    6.5cm shoulder bump

Correct. They are for comparing the measurement you have to the measurement you want. I machined my own comparator bushings out of steel so they won’t get worn as easy and to keep a defined edge. I checked my headspace go gauge so I would know what area of measurement to expect. My numbers don’t...

    6.5cm shoulder bump

They are called comparators for a reason. Unless you are using the same caliper and bushings (and I mean his) comparing measurements is useless. Take a piece of brass fired in your rifle and measure it. Write that number down. Now back the sizing die out a round or two and resize the piece you...

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

That’s a great looking rifle. Looks like the same barreled action I have. Mine is 20” and.830 at the muzzle.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

I put my B/A 308 20 inch heavy barrel in a B&C Medalist stock and it is shooting great. I’ve got a hundred rounds through it so far and it cleans very easy. This was my third Howa.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

Got a Bartlein 3b contour in 6.5 Creedmoor on mine. 25 1/2 inches long and.725 at the muzzle. I chambered and threaded myself. Third one I’ve done, first Howa.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

I have 3 different Howa’s and they don’t seem any harder to open than a 700. They are the best factory actions IMHO.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

I’d like to add that the scope is 1 click off of dead nuts center of adjustment for the windage with a Talley 20MOA rail with Warne rings. Maybe I just got lucky?

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

It’ll shoot. I’ve been doing some loading and breaking in the barrel and I’ve been getting .5 to .3 inch groups and cleaning is a breeze. The box magazine will feed rounds as long as 2.8750 which gets a 168 SMK within .015 of the lands. Got 50 rounds through it so far and it is slick as a gut.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

I built 1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and the metric threading was different but manageable. That’s the same color stock as I have on mine. I’m trying out the 308 right now but it will probably be converted to something else. The factory barrel is doing pretty good though. May just wind up putting a longer...

Well FBI computer is down. More Russian hacking I guess. Should get it tomorrow if they come back up.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action Build

I’ve got a 20” 308 @ FFL to pick up tomorrow. Got 2 other Howas in my safe already. Great guns at a great price. Went with the barreled action this time so I could choose the stock I want and the savings.

    Howa 1500 builds **post them**

Just ordered a B/A from Brownnells and it’s delivering Monday. 308 with heavy 20 inch barrel. I have one I installed a 3b contour Bartlein 1/8 twist in 6.5 Creedmoor. I put it in a B&C stock in dark brown with black webbing to use for a hunting rifle. There is a post on a thread somewhere about...

    6.5 Creedmoor

I’m getting 2769 with 40.6 grns RX 16 in Starline brass, FGM210M with Hornady 140 HPBT out of a 25.5 inch Shilen. I did a work up today with Lapua brass and started getting cratering at 41.2 with Berger Hybrid 140’s seated 50 thou out. The 40.6 Load shoots bug holes. The 41.2 was nice also.

    Shoulder Bump Help

Nothing wrong with the Hornady Comparator. You just have to remember it isn’t for absolute measurements. It’s for comparing fire formed brass to resized brass. Keep at it. You’ll get it figured out.

    Shoulder Bump Help

If you think the die might need trimming,I would cut down the shell holder first. Different brands of brass will have different amounts of spring back. Even different lots of the same brand. You’re only half a thousandths (5 10 thousandths) difference in the two you have. If your die is sizing...

    Shoulder Bump Help

If you are not getting bump back on the Lapua brass, evidently it doesn’t need bumping. It can take 2 or 3 firings to get brass fully formed to your chamber if using lighter loads.

Universal recap for small flag hole

I use the Lee Universal Decapping Die. I did have to grind down the decapping pin but I used the edge of a whet rock and my cordless drill. Piece of cake. About 10 minutes stopping often to measure.
