Remington M24/700 trigger is hard to safety

700 trigger in an M24 has out of spec safety pull. My gauge only reads to 8#, and its way over that. I've taken 700 triggers apart before, so thats no issue. I just want to know which part needs to be inspected to cause this defect. Thx

A differently marked front base, .175 This appears to be an original Redfield produced item, but not certain.

I just saw this auction for a DMR M25 scope, super rarity B&L 10X optic. The 10TH Special Forces developed that rifle for the Army. That reminded me I was coined by one of the hide regulars, a 10thSF Major (Ret.), @buffalowinter. So have to be a show-off, and post the goods. Thanks sir! To put...

On the rear, a Cloward WB-490 repro came installed on my M24 from Remington Defense. It was not fitted with a Redfield WB-490. Those were long gone when this rifle was built. Interesting it was not provided with the RPA Trakker sight bases. The other base shown in the pic is also a Cloward. I'm...

Quick update on the Freeland's front sight base. On the left is a Redfield base that came installed on a Remington M24. The "A" is upright and stamped on the rear end. The screws are 7/62 allen socket caps. On the right is the Freeland base. The "A" is inverted, and stamped onto the front...

The geometry of the rear sight & front sight are very specific. This has to do with the click-values of the rear sight dials. They need to be an exact distance away from each other in order for the rear Palma adjustment dials to be accurate. Just like a +20° MOA canted scope base, you could run...

You edited your question while I was typing, no problem. The question you're asking is whats the difference between the Redfield 175S (item # 723001), and Freeland's .175A1 (sku: US-175-A1). I do not believe there are any differences in dimensions or screw-hole spacing.

The "S" designates Screw-Attached front bases. Without the S would be a 2-Step Screw-Attached special base for small bore shooting with two heights, one for 100 yards, the other for 50 yards. Purpose was to prevent wear on the rear sight from cranking the adjustments back and forth when...

Technically you could use the .225 height because the Palma has an adjustable sight gradiant (dont know what its called, it has the tick markings on it and slides up or down).

If you need a Redfield WB-490 rear sight base, there are several dealers offering repros. This version was made by mastersmith James Cloward. It comes with two 3/32" allen head screws spaced .562" to fit the Remington receiver holes. Blued finish. $30 on eBay

If you need a Redfield front sight base, Freeland's Sports still offers an original spec version. It's stamped with an inverted "A" on the end, and comes with 2 slot-headed screws, not the allen key type used on the M24. Height is .175" correct for alignment with the rear Palma sight...

8.5" twist is an uncommon rate, so prior owner probably spec'd that barrel for a specific load, but I'm not familiar w F-Class rules. Seems like you found what it likes. Camo pattern gets you this weeks sexiest rifle trophy!

I'd be fine sending it to you so your machinist can mic it himself. This one fits the early Redfield front sight base. I need a spare lockring that fits the newer OK Weber/RPS Trakker front base. LMK if I can buy one.
