Varget vs TAC for 77 smk loads

I have a ton of Varget and usually just use that for my 77SMK loads. I'll be getting a new Compass lake chamber Krieger barrel to try out and was thinking of trying some TAC as well for load work. Is there any benefit to using TAC? I know it's popular but I've just never tried it. 18" Mk12...

Range Report .308 155 Scenar vs 175 SMK

When I first got my GAP 308, I broke in the barrel and worked up loads with both the 175 smk, and the 155 scenar. Went to the range and ran them both out to 1k. The 155's almost felt like they turned the 308 into a different caliber. There really was no comparison. I had some crazy groups...

Suppressors Surefire Socom or similiar suppressor life on MK18 style rifles

Thanks! So would it be better for me to get the surefire brake rather than the flash hider for the quick attach suppressor? Never knew one would help more than the other. Alan

Suppressors Surefire Socom or similiar suppressor life on MK18 style rifles

Just posting this to see how harsh the Mk18 style Ar's are on suppressors. I have a DDMK18 and waiting on Surefire SOCOM 556RC transfer to go through. What is the expected life of suppressors such as this if just shot semi auto with no real long rates of fire? I've been told they don't last...

    6mm Dasher

I figured the Dasher would have a little more for shooting at 1k. Not real reason though, I guess just that I don't mind fireforming the brass, and from what I've read, the Dasher still has excellent barrel and brass life also so I figured why not go with it. It's just confusing as I've read...

    6mm Dasher

Figured I'd post this to see if anyone on here uses the 6 Dasher. What reamer works best? I plan on using 105-108 grain bullets. I know there are a few different ones, and I have a lot of reading to do yet. Turn neck vs. no turn neck, etc. Barrel twist? Thanks for any help. Alan

Mcmillan OD green and black stock marbling color photo request

I think I'm gonna switch things up for this next build and go with a Mcmillan OD green and black marbled color. I'm thinking 50%OD and 50% black. Also open to 10% tan in there too. Anyone have any pics? Thanks, Alan

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

Yea, the SAUM will be hard to beat, and I can't wait to get a chance to run it :) I just wanted another build based off of something for pure accuracy yet in a tactical platform. I guess a "sleeper" BR haha :). So, I guess I just want another rifle. Fireforming 100 brass is not a big deal to...

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

I like the tactical styles. I have two right now that are pretty much identical. 338 Lapua and the 6.5 SAUM have mcmillan A5 Gap Camo, badger DBM, etc. so I'm thinking it will be along the same line as those. Not really sure, still kicking around ideas..oh decisions, decisions :) haha

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

I don't really mind brass fire forming, etc. I have a 6.5 SAUM from GAP that should be getting finished up soon to get loads worked up for. That involves some brass prep that I never did before the other day. I actually don't mind at all. Once I get that worked out, I'll contact George for...

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

I've been told the 6 Dasher will work mag fed. I never really read much about it until last night and now I wanna try one! I'm fine with single feed, but would be nice to have the option of 3-4 in a mag if needed. I dont shoot benchrest, just prone with rear bag but want something like this...

Compass lake match chambered Krieger barrel groups?

That's what I was looking for..good shooting :). I've never tried TAC yet, but may when my new barrel comes in. I'll be using the 18" also and eventually ops model 12 can when my paperwork clears ( prob year from now). Alan

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

Thanks for all the replies. Last night at work I did a lot of reading on the 6mm Dasher and that's exactly what I'm looking for. My only question though..can these be used with a magazine fed rifle. I'd like to have one built on a mcmillan a5 but am unsure of any magazine issues. I read...

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

Seems 6mmBR is most recommended. I guess I should have worded the original post different. I won't be shooting it benchrest, just looking for a caliber for putting tiny groups in paper. I shoot prone mostly, but wouldn't mind having something to enter in some local groundhog matches, etc...

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

That's why I was leaning towards 6xc or 6 creedmoor. I don't know much about these calibers though so I've been reading a lot of threads on here.

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

Do the 6BR rifles work in a repeater, or just single shot?

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

I'm burned out on 308. I shot probably 10k of them the last few years. In fact I had 1500 through my GAP last year and it's now getting rebarrel into 6.5 SAUM. I was gonna go with the GAP 10 6mm creedmoor, but want anther GAP bolt rifle, just not sure of what caliber yet. I just shot the...

    600 yd Accurate bolt rifle

If you were to build a bolt rifle for benchrest accuracy out to 600 yards or so, what would you build? I have a 338 Lapua, will have the 6.5 SAUM, Krieger barrelled mk12 mod1 and a few others but want something to shoot tiny groups out to 600 or further. I'm thinking a 6mm Creedmoor or...
