    5x25 is a good option, IMO. As stated, you don't need the 25 power all the time. You can dial back as needed depending on conditions and use. It's always nice to have the extra magnification if you need it.

    Which way should I go?

    Mike builds an awesome stick !! They are works of art, and his blueprint/massage on the Rem action is top notch. That being said, I love my Surgeon Actions - it's a shame they aren't more readily available. I think you have a win, either way you go !
