    Who is "essential" ?

Same here I've been deemed essential because all my work is in power plants and I'm on call pretty much indefinitely if any of our stuff goes down in my area which consists of 4 states. Besides our secretary, purchasing guy and myself, field tech, everyone else is going home for a while. I have...

No doubt, I told my wife earlier that we are damn lucky we are both still able to work.

    WV stay home order...

Well our governor declared a stay at home order today. I've been deemed essential so I'll still be working my same old days. A lot less traffic on the road.

    Short barrel upper help

You can find LMT uppers for pretty decent prices nowadays and I trust my life with mine. I only have the one upper from LMT but it's been flawless from the first round. https://bossfirearms.com/shop/lmt-10-5-ar15/ The 10.5" is more readily available. I have a 11.5" home built upper that I like...

    affordable AR trigger upgrade?

I'm going to have to try one of the LaRue triggers. I just put RRA chrome NM triggers in 2 of my rifles this weekend. They turned out to be amazing triggers after I broke them in. Could use a JP reliability spring kit on each of them. I don't think I've come across anyone that didn't like the...

Gunsmithing Getting factory barrel off Tikka T3x lite

I second what clcustom1911 said. I always use the dead blow hammer. I wouldn't use an impact imo. Just stay after it with the hammer and be patient, it'll break loose. I would also recommend trying the aluminum for your vise block. Sporter profile barrels suck to get a grip on. If you plan on...

    22LR AR Build.

I've been hunting parts down for this thing for over a year. I finally happened upon a barrel. I had been searching for a complete upper but haven't seen one for sale in years. This barrel/bolt combo is from an old 1st gen DPMS A/B-22 dedicated 22LR upper. These weren't made for very long and...

Need Hand Guard Recommendations 308 DPMS Build

Is the Aero upper high or low profile? That will be a deciding factor when it comes to selecting hand guards. They are based off the DPMS upper receiver height, low and high. That being said, Troy offers nice rails in both high and low profile. I have a Stag 10 which is a high profile rail. I...

    DMR barrel recommendations

If you want a Douglas then talk to Compass Lake Engineering. I have a Douglas service rifle barrel and it is one of my best shooting 223 barrels. CLE chamber is comparable to the Wylde chamber, maybe a bit better throat for heavy bullets. I also have an 18" WOA barreled upper in 6.8SPC. I shoot...

    Subsonic 45 Raptor AR supressed

Yea that makes more sense. I've seen videos of it done that. Line up enough jugs so that it the bullet eventually sticks in one as it slows down. May take some trial and error on the number of jugs but that would be a cheap, easy way to try to get an idea of how it will perform. I've never...

Anyone know the AK platform well?

I think if you can Tig a bead on the face of that catch, then file it to fit then you will be good to go. Looks like you don't need much. I would give that a shot, I think that will get you where you need to be.

    Subsonic 45 Raptor AR supressed

Yea the milk jug will work, put yourself a backdrop behind it to help catch and recover the bullet. Pretty impressive out of that 480gr. Makes me want to build a 375. I've already got a ton of 375 projos which is why I lean toward it. It is an interesting round, how does it cycle subs?

Anyone know the AK platform well?

Ah your right I thought they had Bulgy latches. If you have the ability to tig weld enough on the catch then just file it back down to where you need. The E. German 74's were really well made. I wouldn't hesitate to try one.

Anyone know the AK platform well?

Hopefully the mount hole in your trigger guard isn't drilled too low. If it is then no mag catch will fit up high enough. If so then just replace the trigger guard assy with latch. From either a Bulgy AK or an undrilled trigger guard. If you want to do the trigger guard, I have a virgin Bulgy...

New Rifle Day, aka educate the n00b (me) (ahem, take 2)

I've been really happy with my Tikka T1X for rimfire. Makes a great trainer and will drop into most stocks/chassis made for the centerfire T3. Shooting rimfire will allow you to see where your problems are with basic fundamentals. To shoot at the ranges you want to be at with the 300PRC, you...

    Subsonic 45 Raptor AR supressed

This is an interesting round. If you reload it makes more sense, still it's a hammer. I shoot in fairly dense brush often so I would like to have something that punches through brush. I really had considered a 375 Raptor build. If you look at the case, it is fairly similar to a larger copy of a...

Gunsmithing should i loctite the barrel extension and other good knowledge please

I have always used the same Aeroshell anti-sieze on the extension and threads. Use a barrel clamp on the barrel, run the nut down tight and break it back loose 3 times then final torque ends up about 40ft/lb. Squaring the receiver face is the only accuracy mod I do to the upper. I will also...
