As for e-collar setup /settings, that Alpha has three buttons to use so you can have them tailored and preset to your dog's tolerance level. I don't see that as being much of a hindrance, over using the ol' TriTronicsTrashbreaker, or a Dogtra, Sportdog, etc. The key is getting the levels set up...- knockemdown

As for e-collars with some power & range, look into a Garmin combo GPS unit. My Alpha has 3 user programmable e-collar buttons, plus GPS. 223 AI long range build
Got a .223AI as a deal on a barreled action, and it has become my favorite shooter! I'm getting a 75Amax to 3015fps (26" 1:7.7 Bart) from TAC while fireforming brass to AI. It's been shooting so good that I just keep forming brass for it, although I did ladder up some Varget with formed cases...- knockemdown

Beyond what's been mentioned, only other thing that comes to mind might be bullet stability. Were the bullets making round holes in paper? Check/confirm barrel twist rate with a patched cleaning rod, and that is sufficient to stabilize that projo, at given MV...- knockemdown
