2021 BigJimFish Review/Article blog: ~$2k scopes with Minox, Sig, and more.

Look forward to reading the full reviews. Have read your reviews in the past and never realized you were semi local till today when I recognized Rayner's targets.

    Looking for 223 Bolt Gun

My 223 bolt gun is built on an Axiom. It is very smooth and shoots amazing. However, I wouldn't be afraid to try any of those options for an action. Just depends what you want. I wanted to build a 3 lug bolt repeater in 223 and at the time the Axiom was pretty much it.

    Hoplite Arms

I am on the fence too. The radius looks nice though the straight line looks more streamlined.

    223 Trainer OR 308 // Rifle Selection

I second the 22lr recommendation. I love my 223 but it is really handicapped if you are limited to factory ammo. 308 I would think would be a bit on the expensive side right now for a trainer. You can learn a lot with a 22 though especially to watch the wind constantly.

    50 BMG question

I will admit to not being any kind of expert with a 50, however, I do feel I can help answer a few questions you asked. No, I wouldn't think so with a brass brush, unless you cleaned this thing an unbelievable amount of times or did so incredibly poorly. No, not true. You may happen to shoot a...

    Hoplite Arms

I see mine hiding back there on the counter. It has been great seeing this rifle throughout its process of development and production. I do like the sound of that tiger stripe copper and black. Maybe next time...

    6PRC build opine?

Just to toss another option in that I didn't see, 6xc are a decent choice as well. I would definitely steer clear of a 6prc unless you don't care about buying barrels at bulk pricing and want every possible wind advantage over the others 6mms.

    H&R M12

Love my H&R 12. It is one of the most accurate rimfire rifles I own. The factory stock was nothing amazing and I wasn't a fan of a stock that had the ergonomics of a 2x4. (despite having a rifle that is literally mounted to 2x4s) Got a Richard's microfit for it. Here is a pic from when it had a...

    Mrad quest.

Yes, remind me not to math. I need to get one of those scopes with 0.005 mil turrets with 0.2 mil per rev and 3 mil of total travel. But when you really need to move that bullet just a skosh... Actually going through math again I am pretty sure it is 1/200th of a yard at 100 yards. Yes it is...

    Mrad quest.

So if I tell him 0.05 mil equals 1/200th of a yard at 100 yards will that help? Edit for maths

@TheHorta it needs some backup irons. Just in case.

Check out my new "Adaptive Precision Grip"!

Got one with a finger placer and am trying it on my Izhmash Biathlon. Haven't had a chance to put actual rounds down range but have cycled and dry fired a good bit. Had to mill a tiny bit on finger placer to fit on an ARS chassis as the chassis is a bit wide just above the grip area. It feels...

    This is gold!

Now I see why it is important to have a shop cat.

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

They can't hit head on. It has to be a near miss from opposite directions or it doesn't work.

223 rem long range and twist rates

I used to shoot a 9 twist 223 with 75 amax. ELD are a bit different but still fairly comparable. They shot great to about 700 but seems to fall apart just past 800. Went from solidly moa at 700 to 3-4 moa at 900-1k. A faster twist should help and would also allow you to jump up to heavier bullets.
