Gunsmithing Ring torque spec; Dry, lubricated, loctite?

Loctite is generally considered to have the same lubricity as a light oil. Sometimes torque spec is given in "as delivered from factory" which assumes a light oil and my belief the above statement "no on-torque adjustments needed" is correct if the spec was "as delivered from factory. Loctite...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Whats the best designed true fighting knife

This ^^^. Define fighting? Warfare where you are trying to kill a enemy or self defense? IMHO different situations different tools. Ive been thinking about starting to carry a knife as I am getting too old for ground fighting. I hesitate because generally I believe Juries look upon knives as...

    CA Unemployment help

I hate unemployment. I stopped filing for it some years back. What the country needs is more jobs not more extended unemployment. What happened to putting a little aside for rough times? Ok Rant mode off. I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advise. I am sharing something I have...

    23" vs 25" 6.5 creedmoor

My thoughts are a lot depends on the contour. Shorter barrels are stiffer. My minimum contour for a 22" is a #4 and i bump that up a contour for every 2" added to compensate for the extra torque. If your contour is a 5 id go 24"if its heavier i go with your 25". There are limits. In my...

    Gunsmithing 6.5 X 55 Swede on a Savage .308 action?!?!??

The swede is one of my all time favorites. In my experience not only does it need room in the magazine to accomodate OALwith all the good pills it needs some extra to feed well. You live in Reno I believe there is a pawn shop or two there :) Find a beat up LA and build your swede.

Rifle Scopes Burris MTAC Made by Steiner?

I called Burris, and what they told me is, the only thing German in the Military Steiners and the Predators is glass , all other parts internals included are sourced by Burris, the exception being the Steiner 5x25 which is 100% made in Germany( as posted above). The Mtacs are Japanese glass...

Rifle Scopes Burris MTAC Made by Steiner?

Zomie post revival :).There sure seems to be some cross breeding occuring. The Mtac G2 mildot reticle looks to be identical to the Steiner "tactical" series reticle. The Steiner predator housing has obvious Burris heritage. The question is which cromasone went where and thats always tricky...

    Suppressors My Thunderbeast -- EXPLODED!!

The thing thats amazing about TBAC and Zak is that not only is their level of customer support stellar but they continue to sustain it. Most companies get burnt out after a couple of years dealing with the public. What would I like to see be TBACs next product? A 100% titanium 8 oz direct...

    U N arms treaty?

I dont like the calls either. All political organizations and charities should be closely monitored that they are honest. I dont give a cent to the NRA (life member) but I give more than I should to the NRA-ILA. If you want to make a difference in sustaining gun culture take a non gun owning...

    Maggie’s Peeing in the Sink

Once upon a time a long time ago in a galaxy far away... My first day in a small college engineering department. I took a detour on the way to college and skipped a couple years. I had become aquainted with a pool hall that had these ancient urinals, they were these huge 10ft long stained...

Med student needs some help finding some credible gun/crime stats.

I think what you are trying to do is admirable but I think if you screw with their manipulated agenda it will have repercussions with your academic career. You mentioned "small group" so presenting accurate statistics will not have that big of a effect. My advise keep your trap shut finish...

    75 gr bthp in a 20" 1 in 9?

I wouldnt. I dont think you can hot rod a load enough to make a real difference. Playing with the stability calculator would tell you. If you are using a temperature sensitive powder and it gets cold now your max load drops in V when you really need it. I would get a good accurate max load...

    75 gr bthp in a 20" 1 in 9?

Stability wise you probably will be ok with that bullet. The 75 a-max would be iffy. Berger has a interesting stability calculator on their website. If you are at elevation it helps stability, the lower V out of a 20" hurts stability but a much bigger factor is temperature. Cold temperatures...
