    Daily Distraction

It is a China rockfish. Caught two and had to release them as they cannot be kept. Caught six types of fish that day, ling cod, black rockfish, greenling, copper rockfish, cabezon (season opens July 1st) and the China.

    Now that we're married...

Adding to my previous comment of faith based marriage. When we were expecting our first child, we decided that it made more sense to have my wife be an at home mom. She may have been able to make a little more income than the cost of day care but that would mean someone else was spending as...

    Now that we're married...

After being married about 3 years or so, my wife told me she didn't believe in divorce but did believe in collecting life insurance. After that when when she got mad at me I would tell her if she could make it look like an accident, she would get twice as much money. Wife likes guns and way...

Not Newport. Span of the Newport bridge is convex or an arch. Bridge that is pictured in the fog has convex or inverse arch steel span.

Not at Florence. The arches on the bridge over the Siuslaw are concrete, not steel. Hint, only the Astoria-Megler bridge over the Columbia has a longer steel span. Need go another hour south of Florence to get to this bridge.

Nope. You got to go about 2 hours south to get to this bridge. Would have been more accurate to say southern Oregon coast for the location of this bridge.

Places You've Worked But Are Now Shut Down

Worked retail for a few years at GI Joe's. Was a NW chain of stores that is long gone now. Tell people it was a great job because I got to talk about hunting and fishing all day but the pay could have been better. Weyerhaeuser facility that is now just a small log mill. When I started there...

Tree wasn't as big as I thought. Closer to 24 inches on the stump. Anyway, we have had some dry weather so was able to get it cut up and a brush pile built. Neighbor with a skid steer that has a grapple bucket will haul the brush to his burn pile. I am working on getting the blocks hauled...

    Good garden idea?

I found a great deal on galvanized steel roofing material last year, 8 and 12 foot lengths, that I used to build this beds. They are 8 feet long, 3 feet wide and just over 2 feet tall. First three I framed using peeler cores. Was a PIA and took a long time to put together with those so the...

I met Chuck in the early 80's when he was working for my father-in-law at the Forest Service. Had no clue about his history as a sniper until almost 20 years later. Asked my FIL about it and he said Chuck had told him about his service but at the time didn't want others to know. Had a chance...

I remember reading a magazine article written by Elmer. He said the 7mm Rem. mag was a good varmint cartridge and that was about it. His preferred elk round was a 375 H&H. Said he saw too many elk run off when shot with less calibers.
