    Usps at its finest

My turn. Several years ago I sent a loan payoff check via Priority Mail from Idaho to Florida. After the usual stop in Spokane it went to a town in Minnesota, which sent it to a smaller MN town....who sent it back to the big town...who sent it back to the small town...who sent it back to the...

Runaway car, this was an awesome save

Yup, still wish I had my '72 GMC, I could sit on the fender wells and work on the engine!

Runaway car, this was an awesome save

Another good example of why I keep up the maintenance and repairs on my '94 K2500. I have no desire to drive a computer with wheels.

We spent the winter '05 to '06 in Tucson, wages seemed pretty low. I was offered a job driving a belly dump for $10/hr. Nope.

My family moved to Anchorage in 1974, I went to high school there and lived there most of the next 40 years before moving to Idaho. With your background I would get a job on the slope and live in the MatSu or in Kenai or Homer. I made $90k a year as an equipment operator/truck driver in both...

A bit of trivia, Abbey's book The Brave Cowboy was made into the movie Lonely Are The Brave starring Kirk Douglas with a cameo by Abbey. When Abbey died Douglas said it was a shame that Abbey never got the recognition he deserved. In the book when the sheriff demands the cowboy's ID he says "I...

Love Cactus Ed, been a fan since I discovered him in the early 80's going to NAU. Have read all of his books and he would be spinning in his grave if he saw what they are doing with windmills and solar panels. Funny how back then redneck country boys didn't like his "radical environmentalism"...

    AI completely out of control

I got my BSEE in '86. I remember an ad in one of the trade magazines, the entire page was black and at the bottom was only: Work On 21st Century Technolgy Today Cental Intelligence Agency

Calling all poors, what is the most poorish shooting sports thing you've ever done?

About thirty years ago I spent the summer shooting High Power Rifle with an 03-A3. I couldn't afford decent ammo so I would segregate ball ammo by year so that in each stage I was at least shooting stuff made in the same twelve months. Shooting against guys with AR's I never came in first -...

Finding out you forgot your ear protection, the hard way

When I was a teenager in the 70's we never wore ear pro. Ear muffs? Pfffft, that's for sissies. We didn't have any braked rifles back then but we were fond of Ruger revolvers, 357 mag, 44 mag. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Fuck EV's, I wouldn't buy one even if they were cheaper than real cars.
