Night Vision Need advice on first thermal purchase

Nope -but, you might want to ALSO get some sort of NV - a PVS-14 is fine. This will significantly upgrade your PID-ability when engaging critters that might shoot back. With a thermal you can detect critters you might not even be able to see with NV. And you can PID whether something is a...

Night Vision New Armasight Units (Sidekick and Jockey 640s)

Nope, the devil is in the details :ROFLMAO: That a2 is on there as I was running a BFA up there for recent training event. I removed the BFA for the pic. When I'm actually shooting that gun it has a suppressor on it and moves the muzzle blast several inches farther forward.

Night Vision How far off are we from 1280 Sensor clip ons?

You mean 1280 sensors or 1280 display ? We sort of already have 1280 displays, just that typically the display gets cut to 640 in clipon mode. But remains 1280 in non-clipon mode. == As to 1280 sensors, the RH75 came out over a year ago with a 1280 sensor, IIRC. The issue is at 12um...

Night Vision New Armasight Units (Sidekick and Jockey 640s)

Thanks for the corrections !! What I get for bein' in a hurry (n) When I've needed to go higher (like when using Apollo 100mm which is about 1.9 ish) ... I put a 0.5 riser under the clipon ... Though the case in that pic (I found first) is utc at 1.31 on 0.5 riser matching up eyeball...

Night Vision New Armasight Units (Sidekick and Jockey 640s)

My scope ? You mean the NF NX8 1-8x dmx ? Yes !!! 49mm ... aka 1.5" ish ... Does that answer the question !? == EDIT: My "normal" height used to be 1.34" (aka 34mm center) because I had 2 BAE UTCs and then we both 1.31" center and 34mm center was as close as I could get to that. But...

Night Vision New Armasight Units (Sidekick and Jockey 640s)

Ok, here's some first impressions on the Jockey 640. I shot it some I looked around with it some I compared it to the 10 year olde Armasight Apollo 640 ... an older "grand-cousin". == Note its HOT in SW MO these days - and so terrible thermal conditions ! I used a mk 12-ish with an...

How to "lock" Nightforce 1-8 diopter?

What about lockin it in a vise and using mah tractor channel locks on it !! (comes loose too often for me too, I guess I just got used to it and check it often without thinking) (of course I sent my L&S mk6 3-18x in twice to get them to loosen up the diopter a little - the second time they...

Night Vision Skeet L vs X

Yes and that's been true since at least 2017 (same is true for ALL BAE branded OASYS units). BAE OASYS program was shut down in August 2017.

Night Vision Skeet L vs X

Most X ppl I've talked to would say "yes" ... but for pure field use (not making hollywood moovies), I'd say they are real close though you can tell the difference. N18 and IR-Patrol are closer still to the 320. Trying to put that in numbers I'd say 320 is 85% of N18 or IR-Patrol. Here's...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

No, both of these methods are attempting the same thing though. Both are attempting what is sometimes called a "parallel" zero or an "infinity" zero. By zeroing to an offset, you are literally trying to achieve a parallel zero. By zeroing to the reticle at some distance farther out like...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Try it at night with a 14, you'll be able to see out to 400yds easy, and beyond. That's how I do it ! (I work during the day, so most of my shootin is a night :) )

Night Vision Now @ SOK: Guide Sensmart Thermals

I ran a bunch of numbers and anything 30 cal wise is fine even 338. Used 6.2 Lbs as lowest rifle weight, couldnt break 500G.

Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

Well, in part depends on what "the gap" is. Armasight came out with the Q-14 (breach gen1) in summer 2016, followed in fall 2016 by the ir-patrol. Both were clipon capable head mountable thermals. The breach might be the most "popular" in terms of total sales, basically a q-14 with a...

Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

FYI. the only 2 dual-purpose HMT/clipon thermals that really seem to get close to the goal of doing both are the RH25 and the Voodoo-S. With the voodoo-S being a better clipon, but at about 3 times the price (for a military grade unit). As to the sidekick, I think that about sums it up ...

Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

14 and nox18 good general choices. Nox18 can go on a wpn as a TWS (not a clipon) and get out to 300yds on yotes (on 4x digital). Next step up pixels on target voodoo-s which doubles as a good clipon.
