New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
It’s by design, exactly. It’s not a defect, they’re doing what they were designed to do. People can decide whether they like it or don’t, but it’s a feature of the scope. Personally it doesn’t bother me in the least.
I don’t own a TT or ZCO, but the Minox works great for me. I love almost everything about it. You can get them for quite a bit less than $2850 if you shop around or find a used one. I think ZCO is a big step up with a bigger jump in price... unless you’re paying list for the Minox, in which case...
This thread prompted me to finally run a tall target test with my ZP5. It passed with flying colors to 20 mils/36” at 50 yards.
The turrets feel great and line up everywhere throughout the full range of travel. I guess my only complaint is that there’s a tiny bit of play at each stop, as...
My ZP5 has a slight stiff spot in the parallax knob, right about at the spot where parallax is perfect for 100 yards.
I don’t know if it’s a design feature or a glitch, but I find it useful for setting parallax to 100 yards quickly without staring down the tube.
If the best fixed power scope is what you really want, stretch the budget just a little and do this:

The 120 TTSX and TSX have both been very accurate and forgiving for me, maybe they’re worth a try. Have you tried Ramshot Hunter? I’ve seen great velocities and accuracy from it.
It sure is frustrating when you have a good shooting rifle that won’t shoot the bullets you have to use. Still...
OP- have you done a deep barrel clean? In my experience the copper bullets shoot best when they’re launched from a freshly-cleaned barrel, or at least one that hasn’t been shooting a wide variety of bullets in it. Seems like different projectiles foul the barrel in different ways.
Deep clean...
I think the Hawkeye action in general, and older models specifically, just isn’t a popular choice for competition. That certainly doesn’t mean it can’t be used for it.
Ruger seems to have the accuracy thing figured out now. The LRT would be a perfectly fine choice to try out in a PRS comp. The...
I got some crap from a family member when I bought my first new Accord in 2009: “Why didn’t you buy an American car?” I got a kick out of showing him that my Hondas were built in Ohio, while his Impala was built in Mexico.
Still have that 2009, going strong at 164k miles with just scheduled...
You won’t be disappointed with a ZP5. The overall package is every bit the equal of the ATACR 5-25 and better than pretty much anything in that price range. The NF *might* have a slight edge in the turret feel department, but the ZP5 beats it as far as eyebox/easy to get behind plus FOV and...
