    5.56 AR Only Loads

@towerofpower93 Here is the original 53 VMax comparison. I’ve shot these over 3300 fps using Benchmark powder, but Ive only got like 1/2 lb of that stuff, so it’s kinda pointless.

    5.56 AR Only Loads

No where even close to the lands in this AR rifle. In my varget vs. Staball match comparisons…charges with a ”C” out beside them means compressed. If it has a “+.00x” out beside it, that means it’s compressed and with the same seating die setting it grew that much longer. None of the Staball...

    Proof barrel gas port defect

Is the rifle shooting well? Are you a good enough shooter to tell the difference? In your OP, you mentioned shooting off a portable bench with a 6X LPVO with a large center dot. Not exactly the recipe for precision. If the rifle is shooting well, I would be happy and not complain, regardless...

    5.56 AR Only Loads

Unfortunately not. I’ve been trying different powders for a while now with the 69 TMK and that bullet just doesn’t like being pushed hard in my rifle so far. My TAC trial showed +3” groups at the top end… lol. It’s been difficult to get good groups out of this bullet. I’m starting development...

    5.56 AR Only Loads

Did some comparisons of Staball Match vs. Varget using the same exact loadings. I did this with several different bullets, here is the 69 TMK as an example.

    5.56 AR Only Loads

Found that the 53 VMAX and 26.6 gr of Staball Match play very nice together. LC match prepped brass with REM 7.5 primers shot out of my Bartlein 20” 1:7.7 4-groove with CLE chamber. See seating depth test below….

    Proof barrel gas port defect

Looks like a simple gas port burr from metal migration. Your gas port is almost entirely in a groove (ideal). How many rounds do you have down it? Have you tried decoppering the burr? I have a Proof CF 16” 223 Wylde and it got a gas port burr after about 10 rounds and wouldn’t group any better...

Duplex rifle loads, anyone tried it?

Why do you guys fiddle with it if it’s not worth the trouble?

Duplex rifle loads, anyone tried it?

If the case is mostly full, the powder isn’t really moving around. If it’s full or compressed, it can’t move at all under any circumstances (It’s effectively locked into place)

NEW- Nightforce CFS (configurable Field Spotting Scope)

The Mil-XT variant looks great. I bet it’s one of those deals where it looks goofy/different until you use it, then it’s like “hell yea”.

Duplex rifle loads, anyone tried it?

Certainly not pissed! LOL Just very curious, when you guys do it, are you stacking powders in the case? I’m thinking you’d have to as premixing them would be wildly inconsistent. Do you ever stack ball and stick powders together? I‘m having a hard time believing that two common 223 REM...

Duplex rifle loads, anyone tried it?

Oh… and I’m not talking about using pistol powders… I’m talking about using known powders for a particular cartridge. Example… 223 REM using a 77 SMK bullet. Varget and H322. You can get about 24.5 grains of Varget under a 77 SMK without issue. Maybe you could do 10 grains of H322 on bottom...

Duplex rifle loads, anyone tried it?

Basically using two different powders to try to get more performance out of a cartridge. Lots of variations to try to play with the pressure curves… maybe a fast powder on the bottom of the case and slower powder on top. In theory, the fast powder could ramp the pressure up fast then the slow...

Area 419 Zero Press vs SCA Nexus Press

I gave away my old T7 to one of my best employees and replaced it with the Zero. I’m enjoying the press, but it really is a quick change single stage due to having to lock it down.

    Starting to Reload in 2024

OP, I'd still recommend the Rock Chucker Supreme over the Rebel. I think the Hornday LNL Iron press is better than either of the RCBS presses and is only like $30 more. Big upgrade in features and expandability, uses the LNL bushings so its almost as fast as a turret press and has a nice priming...

    Aero Precision M5e1

I used the M5E1 upper and handguard combo in a precision 24” 6.5CM rifle I built last year. Excellent quality and great finish. I can’t speak to their barrels, but the Aero parts are very good. I‘ve also used many of their lowers and other M4E1 uppers and they have all been great. i think their...

Really good sale on Vortex Razors at Cabelas/Bass Pro right now!

That’s the exact combo I went with. I almost bought the Leica geovid pro 10x42’s… but went this direction instead. I haven’t had the chance to really use the binos much yet, or the Razor 4000 GB. I’ve used them both at my range that goes out to 300 yards, but only for a moment. The binos are...
