    Gain twist barrels?

It would be wonderful if this could be a research project ranging across barrel makers and shooters. If we can see any kind of trends between the results of RH vs. LH, progressive or non-progressive twist, something more definitive might be reached. I'm sure some engineer could devise a series...

    Gain twist barrels?

This all makes perfect sense to me. What would be the "perfect" twist progression? Would it make sense to start with a very low twist progressing to the desired final twist, or is that even technically feasible? Could a 6.5 Creedmoor start out at a 2:1 initially for a final 8:1?

    Gain twist barrels?

FYI, Rock Creek barrels are also gain twist. I learned this back in 2011 when I had my M24's in .308 and 30-06 built. Bughole.com's information page says "A little known fact about Rock Creek Barrels is that they have been using gain twist in their barrels for years. The gain is parabolic and...

Smokeless powder moisture content. Something else to consider

Powder hoppers are typically not "sealed." At least my RCBS uniflow isn't. Humidity can vary greatly in a climate controlled environment. Best to verify with a hygrometer.

So it is the VPS server issue listed on their status page. Best of luck.

Smokeless powder moisture content. Something else to consider

Good point. As long as they're sealed, contents have a long shelf life. Perhaps quantities of 1# containers is a better idea for lower volume reloaders.

    KRG Bravo Chassis

It will be interesting to learn the cause of the outage. KRG's provider is InMotion Hosting which is highly rated and features an excellent uptime rating. I haven't seen any industry grapevine rumblings of InMotion being hacked, but InMotion's status page does however indicate a problem with a...

    Gunsmithing Happy Vendor Service Stories

I was so pleased with Timney Triggers, I felt like sharing. I decided to use the #611 Timney trigger in my temporary build of my new 24 inch heavey #6 Howa barreled receiver in 6.5 Creedmoor. I've had the trigger for a while because I didn't feel like inletting my other Howa in the MDT LSS to...

Gunsmithing Objective research on Barrel Break-in procedures

Well, that's done. I took my alcohol/hBN powder solution, shook it up, and applied it liberally to a succession of three patches through the bore of my new, unfired Howa 1500 barreled action, heavy #6, 24 inch in 6.5 Creedmoor. After letting it dry thoroughly for a couple of hours, I then...

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

Oddly enough, MidwayUSA emailed me that mine has shipped. It had been on backorder since June 8th.

Gunsmithing Objective research on Barrel Break-in procedures

Reading the earlier statement about the process of treating the bore with the alcohol/moly mixture, waiting for the alcohol to dry, then polishing the bore with patches saturated with moly powder made me think... Since hBN (hexagonal Boron Nitride) is much more slippy than moly, why not use...

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

Interesting. Thanks. BTW, Northland doesn't even list the Howa custom fit even though Criterion has it on their website. I guess when the time comes I'll have to order it directly.

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

It was 45.59 on sale at MidwayUSA when I ordered it. Who knows, maybe this means I'll actually get mine before long. Post a review when you use it.

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

Same here - pillow case and hair dryer. I'm just trying to streamline so I can do something else while they're drying.

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

Roger that. If my backorder never comes in, I may have to resort to that. When I ordered the Lyman, MidwayUSA's sale price was too good to pass up. Got any recommendations?

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

My backorder at MidwayUSA has been running for weeks now. I ordered it because the sale price was awesome and the wife gets tired of the oven being used more for drying brass than baking. MidwayUSA says expected overdue, OpticsPlanet says it ships in 1 - 3 months, Cabelas says it will ship in...

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

Granted, that's what I've always heard. Check out the Criterion barrels site though. They claim to be able to retain accuracy. Maybe someone with first hand experience can share.
