A swallow wouldn’t have made it off my property 🤣

    Help ID this bird

Funny thing is, I could have caught it. It was struggling to get to the top of the fence when the chickens went after it, but Mrs. FatBoy would have shit. A month or so back I found a young rock dove in the back yard. I walked right up and picked it up, then put it in a crate in the house...

    Help ID this bird

You and Rooster nailed it. https://www.strombergschickens.com/shop-all/indian-fantail-pigeons/ $80 pigeon. I should have caught it, stuck her in the roost and put her to work.

If it was fried chicken I promise you there would be no picture 😏

    Help ID this bird

It’s a pigeon or dove for sure, but it’s not a local species. It’s hard to tell but it’s 2-3 times bigger than a rock dove.

    Help ID this bird

Alright, totally not shooting related but I can’t figure this out. This bird landed on our neighbors fence this weekend and was watching my chickens. When if flew down to them, chickens gonna be chickens and attacked it but it got away. Didn’t fly great and let us get really close. Thinking...

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

I ran the VariX III 3.5-10 M3 for years. It’s a wonderful scope. Only reason I moved it off is I like the fixed parallax of the NXS Compacts better for speed shooting.

The only difference is the size of the opening in the bottom of the bolt carrier to reset the trigger . The small opening is for full auto, the longer one is for semi auto only. The bolt carrier doesn’t do shit for full auto except reset the trigger. I wouldn’t even give it a second thought.

I put a dab of blue on my ACRO screw, and after it’s set I mark it with a paint pen.

    Secret Service “JAR” rifle

Awesome. I built mine as a quasi-mod7. The mk13 chassis were still available then for like $1500, but I have so many tan and black rifles I couldn’t do it again. I should have, would have been easier in the long run, and cost the same. That said, maybe I sell the Stiller Mk13 action and swap...

    Secret Service “JAR” rifle

My pre-2014 “handguard” doesn’t look like the ones on the black chassis in the pics. I have a green/black chassis. Mine is tapered and a plastic. These look metal with no taper and a deeper, wider scallop. Is that an aftermarket piece?

Wineries around Central New York - Recommendations?

I grew up in Constantia. I couldn’t move back at this point. Upstate is pretty and fairly conservative. The people are nice and there seems to still be a sense of community . However, the fuckery from NYC and Albany continue to ruin the state and they’re never going to have the numbers to stop...

Wineries around Central New York - Recommendations?

When my mother, who is fighting cancer lives there, yeah. My daughter and SIL are stationed in WA. I bracket the fuckery with my loved ones.

Wineries around Central New York - Recommendations?

This is where Mrs. FatBoy and mother of FatBoy wanted to go. Technically, we didn’t go to the finger lakes but it’s close enough and was a wonderful property, excellent service. https://www.collocawines.com/home-1 I must say, reds were very, very good. They had a grill and wood fired pizza...

    Vintage sniper rifle match, Quantico

An original 8x…. Mmmmmm. I hear you. I haven’t built any of the M40s. I like and tend to build the SF rifles but I “feel” that I should have an M40A1. Seems wrong to not have at least one smear stock in the safe. Off topic but… I think, if given the option, it would likely be a M25. I...

Surprised the Canadian NRA can’t help. Are they as feckless as the modern US NRA?

    Vintage sniper rifle match, Quantico

This sounds like a REALLY good reason to build an ‘03A1 with a Criterion barrel, and a new Malcom scope with the upgraded mounts. If you don’t have one,,, I think you may really enjoy it. They are unbelievably capable rifles. VERY hard to shoot consistently from a sling and coat, but off...

    Vintage sniper rifle match, Quantico

Are modern optic systems better? Kinda. Easier to learn on, 100%, but thousands of us (I was not a sniper) learned to mil and hold with MOA knobs and a mildot reticle. (Think mildot master and weapons log book days) I wouldn’t want to be exposed to a guy who was trained and using a fixed 10x...

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

Something else this does is exposes the crown for cleaning and helps keep the caked on carbon from building up. Hard to see as it’s dirty, but the crown is exposed by 1 thread.
