Just a heads up on my experience with Hornady brass. It's great for the first 3 maybe 4 loadings. Then the case separation began. Pure misery. I bought a batch of 6.5 CM from Starline Brass, it's cheaper and very hardy. You can feel the difference when you pick it up. I have one batch with...

No reason that a 5.56 can't be just as accurate as the 6.5 at 100-500 yards. I have a 5.56 Ruger SR (piston style AR) that will shoot cloverleafs all day at 100 yards with handloaded match grade 75gr hollowpoints. It will not shoot groups with any factory ammo it has been fed. Just find what...

Sounds like you inserted it backwards. Properly installed it's solid as a rock.... Look at the pics, it is directional on install. Make sure the screws are out far enough but not too far or it won't align correctly. I initially had the same issue until I figured out the screw and direction...

I went with a 36" rod to accommodate the Possum Hollow bore guide with the solvent port.

None of them will gall the bolt lugs if they are properly cleaned and lubricated after each use. Don't mean to be blunt, but those who don't clean and lube are just asking for future failures, or a firearm with a shortened life span..

I use a large drag bag to tote my rifles around in. I very rarely just take one rifle out, so the twin compartment full length bag is nice. I can get my RPR and my extra long MPA BA chassis R700 with a tank brake and 26" barrel in the same bag. Large pockets hold a couple of options for...

Try the Magpul type "AC" They taper to a single file at the top and will not hold the bolt open after last shot. That makes single feeding a lot nicer and I have never had one fail to feed correctly like I have with the stagered presentation feed lips. They are available in 5,10 and 20 round...

You can't go wrong with any of those decisions. I have 2 of the Vortex scopes, one mounted with a Burris PEPR, the other with a Warne. Both are hardy and easy to mount/dismount and keep perfect POI. Have fun, you are going to like it (a lot)

Post your target pics! Along with your final choice of bullets/brass/powder. Getting those first few rounds down the tube are the most fun, finding out what these rifles can do! IMHO, one of the best rifles for the money, and a real hoot to shoot! Griz

I ran the gambit from 95 gr all the way up, Sierra, Hornady, Berger, etc.... I got the best (most consistent) results with the Hornady 140 and 143 ELD series with H4350 and RL17 powders. The 143 ELD-X is what I settled on, because I use the rifle for hunting and long range target. The ELD-X is...

I always use an automotive anti seize (the silver stuff) on barrel nuts. It was designed to use even on spark plugs where the heat gets really intense. It wont dry out after several years and get sticky like bearing grease. I have been known to get an AR barrel exceptionally hot...

I keep a small jar of RIG on my bench. It was designed for stainless steel to prevent galling, but I have found it to be an excellent grease for just about anything that needs greased. I like the small container with the full size screw off lid, makes it handy to dip from with finger...

Why would anyone NOT lubricate the bolt and lugs? I was taught by my grandfather in the early 60's the basic things that need to be done to maintain a firearm. Greasing the lugs on the bolt and receiver are basic, and have always been. Anywhere metal moves on metal, it gets cleaned and...

Not so strange. Most of my rifles, the RPR included, do not really like being too clean. In benchrest they call it pre-match fouling. It's a matter of reaching an equilibrium. When a barrel is clean, the first few shots deviate because every shot is being made with a barrel in a different...

If you are going to use your rifle for hunting as well as target, then I would recommend a 100 yard zero. You will be fine with the 20MOA built into the rifle at 1K. I have 2 different scopes on one-piece mounts for quick change of duty I use on mine, a low power 44mm for hunting out to 500...

My replacement shroud was loose and sloppy too. I out the original back on it. I think I will order one of the Tungsten ones with the stainless firing pin tool. They fit nice and look great!

Why the push for a switch barrel rifle?

The market will decide, as it should in a free enterprise. Those that sell, survive, the rest fail.
