Which Charge Weight would you pick based on these results?

You're increments of .1 grs is too small for that size of cartridge, IMHO, making really hard to see what'd really going on unless you had a much longer string of POI's. For the future, I'd suggest .3 gr increments for that many POI's. With that said, I'd suggest you retest 4 through 6 . . ...

    .308 Winchester

All these things with variability you mention are all true. And because of that is why I tend to be so skeptical about claims that I haven't seen any testing done. But when several good independent tests are run and the outcomes are the same, I'll then accept the theory. . . especially when my...

Good quality digital “utility” scale under $100

I've had the Frankford Arsenal DS-750 scale for a long time and found it to be relatively accurate and dependable. And I like the way it's designed to just load into my range bag when I feel I might want to do some weight checking at the range...

    .308 Winchester

The Sinclair Hand Priming Tool is a very good tool that can produce pretty consistent results . . . in terms of how far below flush primers are seated. The thing is, different brands of primers have different cup dimension, where they'll be different in cup height (without the primer that...

    308 Berger 185 Load Data

Back in 2020 I used 44.9 to 45.1 grs of 2000-MR behind 185 Jugs and through a 20" factory barrel I was getting 2620 fps. I didn't get very good results when I tried the Jugs and went back to 175 SMK's that did well with that powder.

    .308 Winchester

Primer seating depth can make a difference depending on what's actually going on with how the anvil is actually being seated. There is some leeway, but .006 variance is quite a bit, though that too depends on how much variance there is in the depth of the primer pockets. Another aspect to...

It's that really all it comes down to . . . "my rifles shoot good enough for me"?

Now you just have to test that 43.7 gr load over 20 shots or so to see if it'll repeat. ;)

    Brass donuts

It's really not that complicated. When you keep resizing a case, where the material is being squeezed back to a smaller size, think of it like squeezing an hand full of soft clay. The brass acts like clay when under high pressure and has to go somewhere and that somewhere is the place of least...

Giraud Power Case Trimmer Ya, Nay

I'm using a Giraud, though it can present an issue for someone with arthritic hands. My old hands do just fine when I'm also using a thin non-slip glove allowing me to hold on to the cases without having to use much pressure. I can go though 100 cases in no time and get very consistent results.

    Pressure vs velocity

This thing about Secondary Pressures is really new to me. . . surely something I never thought about. I love learning new things like this! THANKS for the link. This is were I thought a link in that link was most interesting to me :giggle: ...

    LRP vs SRP 308 brass

If you're going to us SRP's in your gas gun, make sure you use those that are designed for gas guns . . . like CCI 41's that have thicker cups to resist slam firings. You don't want to the likes of CCI-400's or Federal's SRP's as their cups are too thin. Other's that'll probably work for you...

    Pressure vs velocity

As Old Man with Gun mentions above, a can and the length of it act like adding additional barrel length (barrel length being a key factor in changing muzzle velocity). A break, with it's venting, won't act in that manner because of the venting. A can is just not going to a any pressure, only...

    Ruger American Ejector Marks

So . . . velocity looks to be just about right, therefore I don't see any issue regarding pressure due to the amount of powder being use. Though the amount you're using for IMR 4895 looks like a low case fill (like maybe something like around 90% or less 🤷‍♂️), which normally is not a big deal...

    Which Flame Annealer?

I have a digital infrared temp gun and NO . . . it just not reliable when your dealing with the flame and the case neck temperature at the same time. Because you can get a decent idea of the metal's temperature by it's color when it's really hot, the best method is looking for the red glow in...

    Resizing Brass?

If you measure virgin brass to start with you'll find "different measurements" to start with. Then, as you surmise, different brass indeed can spring back differently. Some brands of brass are produced more uniform than others. It's doesn't matter if you resize to .002 or .001, though that is...
