My experiences with case head separation have always happened at high pressure. Wether it was do to over sizing or poor brass can also be a factor. It never happens in a low pressure caliber or subsonic round. High pressure can also be directly related to carbon ring.
Im looking at putting together a SBR bolt gun in 338 Federal and would like to run 300 grainers subsonic. Im really wanting to go 8"-10" of barrel length. Does anyone have any data on barrel length with velocity of heavies? I may have to go with the 250's but anxious to get your feedback.

I just put 2500 rounds on a 26” gain twist Bartlein. I started out with 30.4 grains of H4895 at 2930fps. it’s at 2917 now with 31.4 of Varget. Reading primers is difficult. Speed comes with pressure.
