    Advancement in Projectiles

Driver160651 - DA in the desert around the Vegas area swings from over 6000 to below 1000. The elevations where I shoot vary from 2,385 - my home ranger- to over 4,000 ft.. Virtually all my shooting is at distances that vary from 1,630 to 2,100 yards. I am aware that transonic starts at Mach...

    Advancement in Projectiles

I'm going to disagree with LastShot300 on at least 1 statement. If I never intend to shoot a bullet into subsonic transition whether it actually transitions is completely irrelevant. If my pill stays comfortably supersonic all the way to the target - does the target care if the bullet is...

    Advancement in Projectiles

At least one problem with increasing density of mono-metal / solid projectiles, is you run face first into the "armor piercing" category and Uncle Sugar shuts you down. Some folks have looked at adding mass via solid inserts (again armor piercing issues). You can potentially side-step the...

    Elr central world record event

I have been fortunate enough to live in 2 parts of the country (Texas and currently Las Vegas) where I can and do shoot out to 1,000 yards and not think about it. I know how rare this is. I grew up in Ohio where there is as far as I can tell one 1,000 yard range in the entire state. I...

    Elr central world record event

When a plate gets repainted is going to be up to the guys running the firing point and or match. No details on that process have been shared so far (at least that I have seen). Jeffvn

    Magnetospeed T1000 Target Hit Indicator

I tried velcro for our IRIS light system, and it didn't hold securely against the bigger cartridges at closer distances. But the IRIS sensor looks to be a lot bigger and heavier than this one, so that could be the problem all by itself. Kurt let me know how the velcro holds up to your 50...

    Elr central world record event

I can't speak for the group, but from my view the answers to your questions are: 5. yes, just like F-Class. If it is physically attached to the rifle (bipod, etc.) when you lift the rifle it counts towards the weight of the rifle 21. yes designee 23. good question (with 20 folks on the line...

    Thoughts on 30 Nosler?

I don't particularly like the idea of spending Lapua prices on non-Lapua quality brass. If the brass stands up to fairly stout loads and gives me minimum 10+ reloads I'm good to go. I truly wish RWS was making brass for .338, a big 30 cal, or a big 7 mm and selling it in this country, not just...

    Elr central world record event

No one says your rig needs to be that heavy. My .338LM Improved is roughly 18 lbs. you can run what you own. the weight limit keeps the actual beast guns out. you gotta be able to move it to and from the line, and set it up quickly. I'll probably run my version of a 300 Norma Magnum. Jeffvn

Range Report 308/198gr Flatlines ELR in MT - results from field

Centurion123 - I've shot them from my 30-06 Ackley @ 2,100 yards. I've never shot them far enough to see how stable they are in transition. Based on the length of the pill, and the fact that I'm running a 1:9" twist (rather then a 1:8 - that will maximize stability through the transition zone)...

    Applied Ballistics Weapons Division

Mitch How much ammo is included in the System? The information states the Ammo is tuned for the rifle system. Does that mean it is customized for that rifle, or that it was tested on a version of that rifle (same barrel length, same bullet, same lot of the same powder, same velocity). Jeffvn

    Caliber advice for 1200-2200 yards

No ELR!?!?!? Steve123 ... I think you need new friends. You are correct, 3,200fps w/ Flatline 256s is spicy on pressure and the brass isn't going to last long. I ran mine @ 3,100 node w/ no pressure in Vegas in the summer. Jeffvn

    Caliber advice for 1200-2200 yards

If you want to stay with a standard magnum boltface, you are looking at 338 Edge, or a 30 cal version running 230 Bergers @ 3,000-3,100 fps. I love my 338 L.M. Improved, I'm looking at 300 Norma and 338 Norma Improved - but they require a .338 Lapua boltface and action. Jeffvn

New Potential World Record ELR Shot

If folks wanted to they could set up a record shoot, as their event. I know there is an industry and participant group working on trying to establish some parameters for such an event. If the Tonopah 2 Mile had gone forward we would have had every shooter the second day prime for a "record"...

7mm-08 bullet for prs to beat 6.5 creed?

If you can afford them, try the Flat Line 151s, They will not have the recoil of the 175 gr., and have a BC that thumps anything short of a Berger 180 Hybrid. They are roughly the length of a 180, so if you are going to be feeding them from a .308 magazine, it may not work. If you call Warner...
