Re: Progressive Press
I am a fan of the 550B...but mine was a pain in the @ss to set up, once set it, runs great and the customer service is second to none.
Re: 223 powders
I've tried Varget, H380, and 748 in my 550B...H380 and 748 really flowed well and the rounds made seem to function and shoot fine. I load for bulk ammo in a 10.5 SBR, so sub-moa accuracy is not my first goal.
Re: 16" PSS 308??
I'm running a 16.5 inch .308 w/ 175 grn SMK's at or near 2450-2475 fps. It is plenty accurate for sub-moa groups out to 600 yards. With the shorter barrel I am giving up velocity and it is a little more finincky in the wind..but the ease of movement with it is a great...
Re: .223 & H380 loads...
Thanks guys. I have plenty of Varget laying around but that goes to my .308's. I was asking because I have about a 1/2 lb of H380 laying around. I tried a load of 27gr under a 55 gr. round. It worked pretty well. I am not looking for real accuracy per se, just...
Re: Thoughts on barrel length
I don't know if the helps the OP with his quest about barrel length and velocity...but I am running between 2450 and 2500 fps with my handloads and my current batch of issued FGMM 175 in a 16.5 inch barrel.
Re: Quality gunsmiths!
I have had rifles built from Wasatch Precision Arms, Tac-Ops, and APA and have been very happy with all of them. I am actually torn right now between two of them for a build I am planning right now.....best of luck to you.
Anyone running any .223 loads with H380 and 55gr FMJ's? I can't find too much info with this combo. Lee's load data shows a 28.5 gr. charge for a 53 gr. jacketed round as the min. and max. So, if anyone else has something different, I'd like to hear.
Thanks
Re: Clean bore to fouled bore..
In my personal experience, and this is only MY personal experience, I have found that my PacNor and Broughton barrels take about 20-30 round to settle down. Like posted above, the last two times after cleaning by clean cold bore has been off by 1.5+ minutes...
