Running 140s out of 6.5 CM AR

Both 140 ELD-M and Eagle Eye 130 gr rounds shoot sub MOA in my JP LRP-07 if I do my part. Tunable gas block seems pretty essential to getting the rifle to cycle correctly, but no issues with the ammunition once that gets sorted. The rifle wasn't chambered for a particular round so far as I know.

Thinking about a 6.5 cm semi-auto but have concerns about how reliable it will be

The 6.5 CM ballistics mean your elevations and windage adjustments will be more advantaged relative to a .308 175 gr round, as one example. Run the JBM (or frankly any other point mass solver) ballistics program on a representative 6.5 CM round and a .308 round, it will be obvious. Use a 9...

Thinking about a 6.5 cm semi-auto but have concerns about how reliable it will be

Would offer that you need to ask yourself what your purpose is here in order to answer the question. You seem torn between the tradeoffs around cost, durability (which is cost in another dimension) and precision. Would suggest you land on either cost or precision and make a call. A well built...

6.5 Creedmoor - Large Frame AR performance

I have a JP LRP-07, 22 inch barrel. It shoots commercial Prime 130 gr rounds at 2870 fps; Eagle Eye 130 gr rounds at 2875; and Hornady 140 gr ELD-M at 2775 -- all .5 MOA if I am steady behind the rig. My sense is that the barrel might be fast relative to others. This is a five round group of...

    Erratic stripping rounds into battery

Well... I shot 10 and 30 round PMAGs in this rifle and found that the problem is seating the magazines properly. Simply inserting the mags and/or tapping them until they clicked in wasn't sufficient. I had to put some leverage into the rifle in order to really press the magazines home until...

    Erratic stripping rounds into battery

I will try a PMAG. It chambered fine with the original OEM bolt, using the charging handle or bolt catch, either/or. And it has chambered fine either/or with the JP bolt for the last thousand rounds or so, since I replaced the original bolt. The problem only came up the last time I shot the...

    Erratic stripping rounds into battery

Wouldn't have thought so. I pull it all the way back and let it go. Will pay attention there and see if it makes a difference.

    Erratic stripping rounds into battery

Wasn't sure how to label this post. I have an Anvil Arms lower in .223, in very good condition. OEM original BCG but upgraded with JP .223 bolt. Using C Products 10 round magazines. This is the problem -- If I insert a new loaded mag into the receiver, and use the charging handle to put a...

Rifle Scopes Compliments to Jon Aadland for the Aadmount Tangent Theta throw lever

I don't know how to post pics on the forum. Have tried and failed. This is a link to the Aadmount web site: http://shop.aadmount.com/Exact-Fit-T...TLTanTheta.htm The actual product has a slight texture in the finish -- it isn't smooth, so you get some purchase when you grip it. Think skate...

Rifle Scopes Compliments to Jon Aadland for the Aadmount Tangent Theta throw lever

Shout out to Aadmount for a) a great product and b) fantastic customer service. The company followed up my weeks ago question about these with an update to let me know when they were available, so i didn't have to chase them down. Received the new TT throw levers one day delivery, at my...

Rifle Scopes Throw levers for Tangent Theta

This is for the 5-25X, which has a 34 mm tube.... And thanks for the suggestion about a custom part. Trying to find something short term off the shelf if possible.

Rifle Scopes Throw levers for Tangent Theta

Anyone have a lead where I can find a solution? Seem to be options for every other scope than these. Any help appreciated, even if only a pointer to a resource.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Aftermarket Glock sights

Looked into this, but can't tell from the Dawson web site: is the rear sight adjustable vertically so you can zero the aiming point of the pistol? Thanks for the post.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Aftermarket Glock sights

Thank you all, just the sort of advice I was hoping for. Don't need low light particularly for the shooting I am doing. Probably a nice to have, but not necessary. Appreciate the comments about Tritium not being useful during daylight, compared to fiber optic, hadn't thought of that. Will...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Aftermarket Glock sights

Want to replace the factory sights on a Glock 34 with something more durable, and improve target acquisition or sight alignment as a by product if possible. Sights need to hold up to tactical one hand cycling of the slide after reload. Aware of the Warren sights, but questions are: Other...

Bipod hop left (yes this tired old shit)

+1 on this. Your muzzle could easily be 3-4 inches to the right if everything else stayed the same in your position. The other thing you might consider is moving your left elbow slightly forward, by which I mean an inch, not a huge move, which will tend to reinforce the stock settling into the...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns S&W Model 41 vintages

Well, I had an opportunity to shoot the pistol this afternoon. Ammunition was Eley Match, all I happened to have on hand. First five shots inside a two inch ShootNC at 7 yards as I was figuring out the hold and trigger, then next five shots inside a 5/8ths inch ShootNC at 7 yards, then five...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns S&W Model 41 vintages

I keep hearing guys say they have regretted selling their M41s. It probably is the cocking indicator that was stuck in my mind. Turns out the serial number is TAB1326, FWIW, which evidently means manufacture in 1985. I haven't owned one before, looking forward to it. Thank you all for the help….

    Sidearms & Scatterguns S&W Model 41 vintages

Wanted to ask whether anyone has a view on mid 1980s Model 41 pistols. I have the impression, and can't recall where it came from, that this pistol was manufactured differently (and not as well) starting around 1985, or that something changed (for the worse) in its design then. My real...

    Bottom metal alternatives

Installing a Surgeon 591 SA into a Manners T4A stock and considering Surgeon, Badger or Newman bottom metal. Haven't looked at any of these for three years, so not up to speed on the pros and cons of current models or on the practical value of modifications the manufacturers may have made in...
