    Image Stabalized Binos

I was at a match last year and was looking at an array of targets with my 8x binos I carry. They were 500 to 600 yards away. I was having a hard time seeing the target number labels next to each one that determined the shoot order. A fellow shooter handed me his 10x IS canon binos, I was...

Why no love for Shilen barrels?

They were one of the match sponsers at Kevins lone star challenge match, part of the PRS series we shot in April. They put on a great crawfish cookout on Saturday evening and donated barrels for the prize table. I don't own one but they used to be considered by benchrest shooters and custom...

Remington vs. Winchester Brass - Feedback Needed

Comparing just those two, Remington, longer life. Average pressure loads 8-10 loadings. Winchester is a little softer but shoots just fine. Some other brands are probably better, more consistent, better metal, but also twice the price and hard to find, but I know guys that buy the European...

    Stiller Actions?

What is the final function or use of the rifle going to be. That's a big round for a #5 barrel unless it a hunting rig. Shoot a match with that rig it'll beat you up, but a carry rig to hunt not a big deal. I have two match guns that are short action stillers, one AW feed one standard feed...

    Interarms Mark X...worth rebarreling?

Those 98 actions are rock solid, god knows they've made millions. They are every bit as good as any modern rifle, the barrel may be shot but if it shoots then shoot it. You can buy tons of classic wood stocks to put it in. Pretty well anybody could rebarrel it in a medium caliber if you want...

    243 Barrel life question

I got 1000 rounds out of mine with the 115's and h4350. Pushed them like 3075 or so. My barrel now 105 berger hybrids and 4831sc at 3150. Hoping for more life on the barrel but who knows!

    Getting back into liffting

Never ever sacrifice form for weight. Yes, back off on your weight and keep your form solid and increase reps to failure. You are probably comparing your old weight you used to do for a given lift. Can't do that, back off 20 to 30 percent and work your way back up to the old weight, at your...

Range Report How accurate is your chrono??--

I have owned and shot over several brands of cronos over the years, since I bought one of the magnetospeed units I doubt I will ever use anything else. For me, doing load work up, checking velocity in different weather conditions it's so easy its hard not to like them. And so far I have yet to...

    Final .284 thoughts?

Just a couple of observations, or opinions, building the 284 on a long action is a good idea, that way you can utilize all of the case capacity for powder and can set your bullet out. Drawback of the long action, your mags are really awkward, longer bolt throw. To use a competition gun that...

Best Bipod For Precision Repeatable Rifles??

I started with the harris on the sling mount, went to the versa pod with a spigot mount, adapted the harris to the spigot mount, went to the atlas on a rail mount. Now I've settled on the Larue quick release rail mount with the harris. Kinda went full circle. The Harris is easy to deploy, is...

Sidearms & Scatterguns My first Glock, maybe.

I have and shoot both. As far as a stand and shoot at matches, run and gun, it works awesome, quicker recoil recovery, less muzzle flip the 34 is the way to go. I never thought of junk getting into the slide barrel lock up through the opening but I guess it is possible in bad conditions. As...

Poor accuracy from my recent build (Kreiger barrel)

Agree here. My recent AR build was with a wylde chamber wilson 20" Once I found the load combination it shoots great, but the powder changed it a lot. CFE223 shot like 1.5moa, 8208XBR shot .5 with both Hornady 75Amax and BTHP.

    Which 6mm?

All of the 6mm chamberings shoot well. 243, 6xc, 6x47, 6cm. Everybody pretty well uses the same bullet weight class. The shorter cases seem to be a little more efficient when it comes to powder use, but I'm with Anthony, every part of the 243 is cheaper and easier to get. And they all...
