Rifle Scopes Leveling scope tips and tricks

I've tried the shim method and don't like it. End up dropping stuff all over trying to get it even. I have also seen rail levels not level to the rail, so in that case you have to match the mounted level to a plumbed reticle or you will be off or canted when you shoot. Probably won't bother...

Rifle Scopes Leveling scope tips and tricks

I mount the level on the rail. Then loosely put the scope in the rings so it can be moved. Have your string or poster board in place and while the gun is on your bipod and rear bag you look alternately at the rail level and the reticle and check it for plumbness, (if that's a word!) it's...

Neck Tension - adjust it when?

Typically we look for about .002" crush from the ID of the case to the OD of the bullet. I start with that formula but usually use the sense of feel when you seat the bullet and look for smooth firmness but mostly consistency. The more consistent you are round to round the lower your ES will...

Rifle Scopes bushnell XRS and a 1000 yard shot

Unless you are shooting something really slow no problem, great scope for the money, you won't be disappointed.

Rifle Scopes Bushnells customer service? thoughts

Tom and his team do a great job. I would be very surprised to hear they let someone down. Nothing but great service for me, every time.

Is this HUGE jump to the lands in my R700 normal?

That doesn't mean it won't shoot. A lot of guys jump the smk175's .050" or more and have good luck with them. Alpha mags will get you a little more length. Best to shoot it and see.

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Tanfoglio pistol?

I owned a .40 witness years ago, I did a trigger job on it and eventually sold it to a friend of mine to fund a limited STI build. He still has it and swears its the most accurate handgun he owns. It shot very well and handled and felt nice. No complaints here.

Advanced Marksmanship Best zero distance for tactical matches

It's good to be able to do both dial and hold. Hold is faster but not as precise. Add some wind and the hold over gets a little tougher unless you have a reticle like the horus. Go shoot both ways on a MOA size target out to 600 yards, decide for yourself.

    Safety factor in reloading manuals?

Unfortunately nobody knows the right answer. You are going to have to experiment your self under your conditions, rifle, powder batch, brand of case etc. Way to many variables involved to say a flat percentage. I as many others look at a book, ask questions on here or friends on their loads...

    7mm choice in an SA - 7-08, 708AI, or 284 ???

I just got done building a 7-08 on a stiller AW, I have a long throated reamer that touches the lands on a 162 at 2.878. I'm getting 2770 from a 25" barrel with H4350 in winter weather. I'm sure it will speed up a little come summer. Some say the .284 is wasted on a short action because of...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Colt Pre-70 1911

I think most collectors called that a colt commercial, made for the civilian market. It looks like average condition to me. Probably worth that money, I'm sure others on here will know more.

    Gunsmithing Is this bolt toast?

Yep, that's what I have done. Gre-tan did a couple for me, quick turnaround and nice work. If you go the new bolt route you'll need to check headspace and possibly need to do some machine work.
