Why do people seem down on Savage rifles?

Savage actions work, but are definitely not close to the best out there. They have been know to suffer from extraction/ ejection issues and the bolt life suck on them. I run a 12 LRP action. Its had some work done to get the bolt lift smoother. PT&G bolt body(oversized to help with bolt...

    224V Federal Brass too short?

that's how brass comes. This stuff is made the same as ammo. It has to fit in ever chamber out there down to the smallest chamber that anyone could possibly cut and still be following the reamer print. This is why you "fire form" brass to a rifle. Scott

Review of the Tikka CTR/MPA chassis/Vortex Razor Gen 2 4.5x27 and the 260 AI Catridge.

I will start this review off buy saying I got this rifle half through where it is now. It came in a Bell & Carlson stock and with the Bartlin 260 AI barrel on it. So cant speak for some of the factory items on the rifle. Tikka CTR: I have be impressed with this action and DBM from the get go...

    Howa vs Tikka Action

Having shot both the Tikka is better. Smoother, better trigger. Comes with a DBM out the box (CTR Model). My local smith loves them, minimal work out the box on the action when its time for a new tube. Howa is more budget friendly. Shoots good, not as refined as the tikka. scott

    Ackley Improved Questions

Your not wasting barrel life fire forming. if your gonna go AI youll need two loads. One to fire form and your regular AI load. When I used Lapua brass my load was 40.1 of H4350 under and 140 Nolser custom comp (I'm cheep. you can use you regular bullet if you so choose) for fire forming. And...

    Ackley Improved Questions

I have a 260 AI. I can get the 147 gr ELD-m to 3000fps +. I love mine and will be doing another 260 AI in the next barrel. Brass seems to grow way less.

    Bolt Carrier Interchangeability

I would sell the lower and get a new one. This isn't a bolt guns. Bolts are interchangeable items. Easiest and best route is to sell the lower and get something that doesn't require random oddball bolt carrier.

Ruger RPR vs Tikka T3 Tac A1

I have a tikka CTR in 260 AI running a Bartlin Barrel and a B&C Target/ Competition stock running the CTR bottom metal. I like it over the RPR But only Slightly. The Bolt on the tikka is way smoother, and the I like the factory CTR trigger way better. But I feel more at home behind a RPR because...
