    FGMM .308 Brass

I had a feeling that the thicker Federal brass was part of the issue. I am starting to think I need bushing dies for all the precision rifle cartridges. I ran in to the same problem with .338 LM brass. I ended up turning the necks, but the correct thing to do would have been to use a bushing...

    FGMM .308 Brass

I have been picking up FGMM brass for a while and finally have about 500 pieces that I decided to load some 175 SMK blems that I have had sitting around. This is going to be for an autoloader, but that is neither here nor there. I had the brass cleaned in SS media and annealed a while back and...

Range Report Received my new Magneto Speed V2 yesterday

I started to run an OCW test with it, but I got scared and took it off. I am too lazy to load all those different charges again. After I settled on a load, I stuck it on and shot some groups. It did not change my POI and the two groups I shot were .25" and .33". I may try it with the sucker...

    338 build

If I could push a 300 Hybrid 3000 FPS, I would be looking for a place to shoot 2200 yards. That's just awesome.

    Rifle Scopes ERS or XRS...

I have the ERS. The low Seekins were too low for my 700 in a Rock Solid Stock. I went with the mediums and could stand to go even a little higher. -J

Range Report Ladder Test Procedure and Result. Pics and Details

I have done a dozen or so ladder and OCW tests with my 16 inch REPR. Most have been with Varget and 175 SMKs or 178 AMAXs. I believe that 44 grains is getting close max for most gas guns. I have noticed overgassing over that, although i have only used winchester and Federal brass. You have 1/3...

Tips on getting cartridge runout under .002"?

The lowest runout I have ever gotten was with 3X fired brass that a vendor here on the Hide washed in SS media and annealed. That stuff was like butter going through the dies. There is a lot of good advice in this thread, but I do believe that softer, more supple brass goes over the expander...

First Time OCW resulsts and Question

Try round robin 5 shot groups at 42.7 using 3 or 4 different seating depths. I would be looking for one of those seating depths to be really close to your 43.3 group's size and will theoretically be much less susceptible to variations in brass, weather, differences in powder lots, etc.

Gunslick foam cleaner leading to bad accuracy

I quit using wipeout and went back to Hoppe's on the 110BA because I could never get the jag with a patch down the barrel after the hour soak. It seemed to be really sticky. Those patches did come out a pretty blue color that I don't get with Hoppe's. Does using a nylon brush do the same...

    Chargemaster crapped out again

I borrowed a friends CM to try out last week. It has a very accurate electronic scale, but GAWD is it slow. I can throw and trickle almost twice as fast. How much faster is the Prometheus than the CM? -Shaky

    Quickload underestimating velocity

My velocity is 2750 with 92 grains of Retumbo at 3.69 OAL. This is checked with a Magnetospeed chronograph. I Chronoed five shots that had an ES of 5 FPS! That's the best I have personally ever seen. If I could get photobucket to work, I would post a pick of a three shot group shot at 300...

    Quickload underestimating velocity

Very interesting stuff! I too am using 92 grains of Retumbo and the 300 OTM Hybrid, although I am not even close to the lands at 3.69 OAL. This is for my 110BA, as well. I have played with QL ad nauseum trying to get usable results to no avail. The part that bothers me the most is the...

    Barrett MRAD or Sako TRG42?

Is the 10 twist on the TRG any bit of a negative if you want to exclusively shoot the 300 grain bullets? I only ask because many companies are going to the 9 or something similar twist rate. Thanks, Shaky

    Rifle Scopes Hensoldt 3.5-26x56

Sounds like someone was paying attention in ECON 201... Wait, that can't be right. Most College profs are way to liberal to point these facts out. Probably a Fox New watcher! -Shaky

Is it just me or is my load just not right?

I load the 178 AMAX with 45 grains of Varget in Winchester brass and get 2635 fps out of a 10 twist 20" Krieger. I think it is important to use Winchester brass if you are going to load over 44 grains of Varget. They seem to have more case capacity. Primers are not perfectly round, but not too...

    Berger released 338 load data

Pretty sure they fixed that a couple years ago. I have been sending them at 2800 FPS using 93 gr. of Retumbo. No issues, except the crappy chamber in my savage sticks cases if it's hot outside. -Shaky

    Berger released 338 load data

Man, those seem really light! Do those bullets take up a lot of case capacity or something? -Shaky

Range Report 178 Amax ballistic coefficient??

I use G7 BC of .24 in Shooter and it has been dead nuts on. MV is 2635 at the muzzle.

Rifle Scopes Nightforce UL 34 rings with Steiner 5-25 issue

I have my Steiner 5-25 torqued to 20"#s in Seekins rings and have no problem. I have been purposefully "not nice" to this rig and it seems pretty bullet proof to me. I'll be interested to see how this turns out. -Shaky
