    Proof vs. Bartlein/Krieger

I am late to the party but would like to add my $.02 Of the three barrel manufacturers asked about. Only the one without major/minor bore dimensions stamped on the end requires me to break out the entire set of reamer pilots to check fit. Nuff said.

    Defiance action new costs?!

Lots of top tier action options at that price point, or cheaper. Some of the most popular current rifle component makers were born from similar decisions. Defiance has left the door wide open....... Cheers.

I've come across a bit of a small windfall an so I'm looking for a new custom build

I guess I build some pretty good "semi-custom" rifles.......hahaha.......but I may be biased. Personally, I think Defiance made a mistake by offering custom branded receivers. If I make a part I take pride in my work and put my name on it, not.....JoeDirt Boomsticks......model - Hemi...

I've come across a bit of a small windfall an so I'm looking for a new custom build

Nothing wrong with GAP. George and crew have done a lot for the PR industry as a whole, definitely an OG. I know a few guys who still work there from back when I worked there. If you are looking to stay local and maybe get some Destin relaxation on your trip, I will gladly build you a rifle. As...

    Help selecting an action

I would like to re-iterate my preference for Impact Precision. Top quality and consistency without passing on unnecessary costs to the consumer for space shuttle capability. 'Nuff said Ern

    Manners LRH Discussion

Depending on how far you need it moved, you may get Manners to run the inletting program with a little rearward offset. I am not sure how their programs are setup but it might be a pretty simple process........or not. Other than that, other small hand comp shooters I have seen just shift their...

    Manners LRH Discussion

Manners really hit a home run with this stock. It is by far my most favorite Manners offering. If I had to pick one thing to change it would be the spacer cheekpiece arrangement. I know it would add weight and possibly weaken the structure of the butt......but I like the oldschool style...

    Help selecting an action

Lone peak makes a good action but they have caused me two headaches recently. Same issue just two separate occasions.......second happened before I was aware of the first. Check for a burr around the ejector hole. It can leave the customer with a false high pressure ejector swipe mark. I ate...

Area 419 Micrometer Adjustable Sizing Dies

I understand the need for a larger diameter but I think they missed the boat on not using a tall shellholder and a 7/8 shank diameter that transitioned into the needed 1.25" (or whatever is needed) size above the die plate. Kinda like the old RCBS match seater dies with the inch tall...

SOLD Defiance Deviant 6.5 PRC Barreled Action w/ .308 Bolt + Extras - Price Drops

Just to be clear. When a customer orders an Altus barreled action (or rifle) the barrel is cut specifically to that action. That means a very tight fit on the tenon threads and less than +.001" on headspace. This tight fitment, I feel, gives the customer the utmost accuracy and build quality...

Powder for Necked Up 6.5 PRC

I got ya. I like your style Dude. Thats a cool project idea, let us know how it turns out......I think you are on the edge of working and not working. Btw - H4831sc has been great for me accuracywise......but if you need the velocity too it may be a waste of time, it always seems to be...

Powder for Necked Up 6.5 PRC

I think h4831sc would be perfect in that setup. I run it in 6.5prc and it is a little fast burning for a long barrel and heavy bullets. Bumping up to 7mm should put h4831sc perfectly in the range. The 7-6.5prc is popular with f-class shooters. You might search around on those forums too. I...

SOLD Rem 700 GA Precision .300 Win w/extras $2000 OBO

Does the stock have LOP spacer? Does the bolt still have the OEM riveted extractor or has it been converted to m16 style? Ern

    Which brake?

I like the APA gen 2 or 3......for simplicity. I am a psychopath when it comes to keeping crowns clean. I do etch witness marks on the barrel, brake, and collar to ensure I get everything back to the same spot with the same torque (give or take a few lbs as things wear). This probably doesn't...

Gunsmithing .308 Barrel Twist Rate...Which to Choose?

Yep. We use a lot of 9twist 30cal from 308win to 300prc. In my opinion, 9twist is the new 10twist.......after all bullets are not getting any shorter or lighter. Ern
