New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Did you remove or other wise loosen the objective lenses?
If you didn't remove the objectives, the issue is likely caused by an improperly seated image intensifier or improperly installed tube lock ring.
Uninstall the tube on the affected side and carefully reinstall it.
If you did then...
Weapons mounting ENVIS w/ DLOC QD Mount
The aluminum j-arm adapter is a must have for helmet mounting but is still not the way to go for weapons mounting. The aluminum mount does give the ENVIS housing a fighting chance but the plastic housing is just to soft for it to be sufficient for...
Ronin,
1 - Did you remove the objectives to perform this maintenance?
If you did, what type of objectives do you have? Are they the older translational, newer 4 lobe translating, 4 lobe rotational or 3 lobe rotational? All but the latter are pictured below.
2 - Did you check to make sure the...
Blister forming stiff! Yes, the objective on mine is so stiff that blisters form from adjusting the focus.
The objective also acts as a heat sink and gets concerningly hot after prolonged use, not hot enough to blister just hot enough to be startling.
I don't really consider the ocular on...
Wow, IR Defense really nailed the expressive spirit of high tech; clean lines, elegantly simple form and rational functionality!
It appears most versions of the IR Hunter are currently available for purchase directly from IR Defense:

2µm
Salt in the wound!
What a sad waste of a 2µm tube. Put that tube in my hands and I'll commit such gratuitous posting offenses that no one will ever want to hear about 2µm tubes again. Just imagine the potential here, 13,000ft up a hottie with a naughty body is silhouette'd against the...
For pictures through the TVS-5 and PVS-4, spacing between camera lens and ocular of the system is most important (between 3-4 inches of separation).
Camera used: Panasonic GF1 w/20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Lens (four years old and unmodified).
White Balance set to 7600K. The white balance is one of...
TVS-5 with F4845
Some real nice images in this thread!
Here are some images taken through a TVS-5. Two different F4845 image intensifiers were used for the images.
Sniffle Sniffle, here are some of the last pictures through my MTM before I nuked it. Still get misty thinking about, not easy digging up these memories.
Yes, snakes don't seem to show up to well.
Delta4-3, Were you running a LIF at the time or Class A, B or C filtered lenses? If so the use of a LIF or filtered AVS lenses would explain why you couldn't see the beam on the green laser.
Re: Beginners Budget Rig?
You may want to consider the base model of the Sirius monoculars: Sirius Standaed Def.

Re: New Amber Filters
I got mine here: IMS Amber Filter
They are very effective, the optical polycarb. is crystal clear and coatings appear to be top notch. The eyecup retaining ring on these is the same metal ring as is often supplied with the unit, so there is minimal protrusion.

Statically, the thicker MCP should be stronger. Agreed. Harmonically, it's dependent on the circumstances. More...
Re: Opnion on this PVS 14 - morovision enforcer
CJ, The facts regarding aspect ratio and MCP thickness are a matter of public record. It is the aspect ratio that determines MCP thickness not the other way around as your musings suggest.
I don’t agree nor am I asserting that harmonics are the...
