Thank you Rat, was glad to find that someone did all the hardwork of researching and fabricating the magazine for me, looks like a pain, especially as I don't spot weld. Savage Axis/Edge 10 Round High Capacity Magazine..

I had to cut of the mag release catch flush with top of retainer and grind a little off the top of the magazine to allow the knockout in front of the mag to engage the mag release in my bottom metal. I think the pm you sent me was meant for starvingboy, I replied anyway, but you may want to...

Hunting & Fishing First hunt is derailing (CO)

If the weather is warm head to high country. Little/no traffic. Steep. With water if it's dry. Look for tracks and sign, that will at least help you know if you are in the right area. May be different in Co. in Oregon elk are smart, smart, and smart. They tend to avoid people. If you are...

    Best varmint rifle from factory?

Sorry, I misunderstood, thought you said you had one, had only shot it a few times. Also sorry you don't own one. Maybe you could solve both issues (not owning one, needing an accurate varmint rifle) in one fell swoop. The problem may be that once you have one you may need another, then...

    Best varmint rifle from factory?

I bought my upper through model 1 sales. It has a 24 inch ss e r shaw barrel in a 1/8. it was cheap and shoots really well. You might consider just getting an upper like that for now and putting it on your lower. If you have a decent trigger (mine is an RRA single stage), you could just buy...

    Best varmint rifle from factory?

I have a 24" heavy barreled ar that I use for shooting squeaks in the southern part of the state. I snapped it together myself. I can confidently hit rats at three hundred with 40 gr v max's and 26.5 gr of H335. I put a new scope on it last week and at the range hit six out of nine in a one...

Savage Axis/Edge 10 Round High Capacity Magazine..

I bought two for my fcp, they required a little fitting and the release is different for my rifle, but half an hour of careful fitting and they latch and feed perfectly. You can see my previous post but the gist is SB is GTG.

    Savage 110FCP shell extractor problem

what does "the bolt wasn't to bad to lift" mean? sounds like you might be shooting a hot load. Sometimes that can push the extractor past the detent ball (as the web expands more than it should) and it does not grab the shell at all. If that is the case your load is too hot, back off.

Savage Axis/Edge 10 Round High Capacity Magazine..

For those of you interested, Starvingboy is good to go. I sent a check for two magazines, they showed up less than a week later WITH change, presumably because he got both mags in a flat rate box. To me that is integrity, thanks starvingboy, too bad you aren't going to stay in the game, look...

    Hunting & Fishing Hunting withdrawals?

Sorry to hear it, I wait all year long for the various seasons to begin. A lot of it for me is just an excuse to GO AWAY. Hunted buck deer with my wife a week ago. I got a little three pt, she got a fork. It is one of my favorite things to do with her (guess the other), but she is a fair...

Light primer strikes with JP AR-10 SCS

make sure your firing pin channel is clean, firing pin etc. buffer and spring should just put the bcg into battery and manage recoil. another thing to look at is the hammer spring. I have put them in backwards before, FNG mistake, but it can happen if you have had the trigger group apart.

Reloading 9mm for Steel and action shoots, Help?

I get berry's for about $90 a thousand for 115 gr. They do have a max recommended velocity if I remember right, but I don't shoot them that fast. FMJ's are fine, friendly reminder: there is a reason you should wear safety glasses no matter what bullet you shoot......... I like Montana gold as...

Reloading 9mm for Steel and action shoots, Help?

berry's makes a pretty affordable plated bullet. unique is a 'flake' I have shot thousands of berry's ad unique in competition, they work well with my glock and my kimber. I have not shot lead bullets, but I think there is some velocity you should not go over or you start to lead your barrel...

    Some words about "mindset"

Having never been in combat, I can't refer to that, and ultimately that seems to be the pudding for the proof. My experience reflects what I believe you are saying. On my high school wrestling team I had the fastest pin and the fastest loss on the team. Humiliating to this day, it was a win...
