You can pretty reliably ring steel at 600 yards using an 03A3 and peep sights ($300) or you could pretty reliably ring steel at 600 yards with an AI-PSR (~$20,000)...     221 fireball in a short barrel

    Same here... I've found that after almost 30 years my XP100 .221 is still a slick little combo and not a novelty. Many guns have come and gone but this one still earns its keep. I have thought often of redoing it with an 18" re-barrel and light carbine stock... Good luck.
