    Neck turning question

It doesn’t look like you would hurt anything with that extra .001 removed from the neck/shoulder area. However, I would load them to use as sighters and scrap the brass after 1 firing. I would mark the case with a sharpie somewhere so I would not forget. as stated earlier, consistency is key...

    The Hook Was Set Today...

I have been shooting rifles competitively for 20 years and reloading for most of it. I have had barrels that don’t shoot well, and found that changing components such as bullet or powder can make significant improvements in accuracy. I have not found the case to be true for primers. I use good...

    Good time as any...

this is great advice. After 17 years of reloading for competitive rifle shooting I will have to say that a single stage press or a turret press will be great for starting. The nice thing about starting with a single stage press is that you have to set up your dies many times through the loading...

    The Hook Was Set Today...

Check out accurateshooter.com for a lot of REALLY GOOD reloading information. There is also a forum on that page that is a great place to ask questions. enjoy the press! I jokingly told my friend that reloading is like crocheting for men. ? -TH

    Varget shelf life

    **6 Creedmoor**

6 Creedmoor and 6XC are almost EXACTLY the same. Look at the reamer prints an it will be obvious to you. It is kind of a scam to call them two different cartridges. -TH

    Competition seater dies

Micrometer seating die Is way better

After over a decade of reloading it finally happened:(

After getting a case stuck I learned the lesson that it is less time consuming to lube properly than it is to deal with the stuck case.

    6mm creedmoor 115 DTAC

My testing with 115 DTAC in 1-8 did not result in good groups. Testing in a 1-7 twist was significantly better. if you have a 1-8 twist then plan on using the 105 gr class bullet. FYI, the Berger 105gr hybrid has the same BC as the 115 DTAC and will work in your twist rate. -TH

Is HBN worth the effort or is it snake oil?

It is snake oil. I have used it in my 6XC barrels and it worked very well but not better than naked/uncoated bullets. Cold bore shot accuracy is not magically changed due to a bullet coating.

    6.5mm Bullet Question

That bullet works great on deer.

    Load Development brass

For the 6.5-47L I would start load dev after about 50 rds have been fired in new barrel. For load development purposes, I don’t think you will see a difference between virgin brass and fired brass on an unmodified case. 6BRA is a different story. I would start load development with brass that...

Barrel break in yes or no

generally no. But I check the barrel for signs of copper fouling as an indicator of a need for a “breaking in” process. 1. I use a borescope to look at the throat for copper. 2.Copper also can show up in the last inch or so at the muzzle which can be seen without any special equipment. 3...

Gunsmithing Piloted Finish Reamers: prebore or not?

I asked PTG how many chambers I can cut with a finish reamer and if I recall correctly he told me about 100. Do you think you will cut half that many in one lifetime with the same reamer? if not, I say go with the easy route and stay with the 100% finish reamer approach. -TH PS- I stayed at a...

    Gunsmithing Stuck bolt

as a parting shot I will say that I had a Springfield 1911 that would not chamber some brands of factory ammo. I sent it back to Springfield and they said there was an issue with the chamber but they fixed it and sent it back. Now it works flawlessly. it may be worth pursuing in your case also...
