1 WEEK LEFT: This Target Haunts Me Contest
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Re: 300RUM or 338RUM? Which and why???
Muzzle velocity is an important factor when determining recoil in approx ft/lbs, but it is only one of the factors. I would suggest you download Pointblank ballistic software if your current software doesnt calculate recoil. Its free so you dont have...
Re: A question about Ballistic FTE wind calculations
+1 on Muzzle wind.
consider your shooting like a story book. You dont need to worry about the ending "target wind" or the middle of the book "midrange wind" before you start the book.
The muzzle is where you will see the greatest amount...
Re: 168gr vs. 175 gr for Police Sniper Application
Our SWAT snipers are using the Hornady 168 gr. for everything. Since the average police sniper shot is around 70 yards, you really dont pick up or lose any ballistics between the two rounds. Look at the Hornady, you will be suprised!
I...
Re: 300RUM or 338RUM? Which and why???
The owner of Bear Mountain Sports just took a pig at 834 yards with his 300 RUM. I really like the gun. Cost wise I would have to agree that the 300 will be much cheaper than the 338.
The 300 should easily be able to knock down anything in the North...
Re: Best Scope? FFP Mil/Mil - Top Clarity & Durability
If you were going to consider going to moa, obviously keep the turrets/reticle the same. From what I have experienced with our snipers on our dept, two of them have the NPR reticle from NF. They are SFP and not FFP, but they were...
Re: Need help picking a scope for new gun
The Zeiss is the best glass in that price range hands down. I consider Zeiss to have better glass than many scopes in the 1000-1500 price range.
Zeiss as a company is great to work with and there customer service rocks. If you have any problems...
Re: As a beginner, should I get an moa or mil reti
In order to use the mil system, you must know the size of the target to determine the range or the distance to determine the size of the target. It does take math to figure it out, but you can also use a mildot master to greatly increase your...
Re: Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 x 50 F1
Hank440,
I thought the new scopes already had the 10 mil turns on them. I spoke to NF about my scope to have it retro fitted and they said I would need to wait till May. It might be the same if they arent available yet.
Re: As a beginner, should I get an moa or mil reticle?
ON the web you can order a great program called shooter ready. It is a shooting simulator. It costs around $30 and it can show you how to use MOA or mil variants as well as mil/mil, moa/mil, moa/moa turrets. It is really worth the...
Re: VX-III or Hold Out for NF?
Nightforce is a bad scope! I just bought a NXS 3.5x15x56. It is nore than one can dream of.
However you will not be shooting a 223 out to 1000 yards. 10 power is plenty unless you feel you really need more to 600 yards. Being a new distance shooter, 600 yards...
Re: Worth the Money to Retro-fit?
I like the matching reticle/turrets. It saves one calculation step. The npr reticles are faster than mil. @ the last LE sniper comp I saw, the new reticles were much faster.
NF will be able to add the zero stop to a retro fit around may. Good luck
Re: Optic help
One of the guys @ our police range has been using a demo for the last 4 months. His has been really good. It tracks accurately and for the low cost he has been reaaly impressed with the quality. He will have it for 2 more mos.
Its a great scope for the money. You can also...
I went to a gun store, and they have a NF NXS 3.5x15x56 mil scope with the 1/4 moa turrets. The scope has the illuminated reticle.
The store is asking for $1550 for the scope. I noticed that the scope has a 08/2008 inspection sticker on it. They say that the scope is brand new.
Is this a...
Re: Advice from Professionals PLZ!
Hey Everyone, I really appreciate the info and feedback. I am gonna put the extra money out and go with the NF.
You guys are awesome, I'm not kidding. This has kept me pre-occupied for days!
Re: Advice from Professionals PLZ!
Also, the turrets on the scope are 1/4 moa adjustment. Can those be upgraded to 1 mil/ .1 mil turrets. I have never owned a NF but I know they can up grade/change a lot of things in their scopes. Thanks again.
Re: Advice from Professionals PLZ!
I appreciate the feedback. Can the zero stop be added to a scope, or is it something you have to buy from the get go?
Re: Advice from Professionals PLZ!
How big of a deal is it if its SFP? I am wanting to go to a long range shooting school this fall. Is that going to be a good enough scope?
Not being stupid I know NF rocks for optics, but I have seen a bunch of posts saying how FFP is needed to moving...
I am needing to buy another scope. I had a Zeiss Conquest with the Rapid Z 1000 Reticle, but it was canted/ etched wrong. The store I took it back to does not want to return it, but they said I could exchange it. I dont want to go back to the Rapid Z after reading several posts on here about...
