    33 Nosler

Anyone have experience with this round? I am considering a pre-64 Win 70 in this chambering for a Texas Nilgai/Alaska gun. Long range gun capable of killing 500lb game.

    Focus on crosshairs or Target?

I am a relatively successful sporting clays competitor. Therefore, I stare at the target and slap the trigger at the appropriate moment. I became a better rifle shot after reading Cleckner's book and began focusing on the crosshairs and squeezing the trigger with follow through. That is the...

    Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper HST 4-16 x 50 or Burris Veracity 2-10 x 42 M.A.D.

Please tell me your choice. I am interested in glass clarity and repeatability.

    Kestrel 5700 or 5700 Elite?

In your humble opinion, is an Elite required if you are linking to an external BC via Bluetooth?

    Gunsmithing Mauser Precision Work

Talked to Chad about it and he was not excited. Said the lead time would be very long. Nice way of saying no.

    Tips/Advice Wanted - Modifying my 1980’s 700 in 22-250

The old ones are much squarer (closer to design spec) than the new ones according to the machinist. However, when it comes to adding new bolt knobs, the preference is for the newer actions with RR beginning the serial number because the old bolt handles were too thin to accept a tactical knob. A...

    6.5 "Shorty" Rifle build

Yes, but there is just something cool about knowing Chad has dialed in that action to the nth degree. You buy a good custom action and have you blueprinted it? (Blueprinting actually means to measure it against design). Who knows, could be off a few thou...

    Rifle Scopes Mountain Rifle Scope

I researched the Burris Veracity but it has capped elevation. I dial for elevation 90% of the time I am hunting speed goats and about 75% of the time I am hunting Muleys. Anyone hunt with a Veracity with the cap off? Will it get dirty? Some scopes it is ok.

It is an M1 knob, but that is what I am used to. Did not know that Leupold could redo rets. I have a Mark 4 Mil dot with MOA adjustment that drives me crazy. Never mixing again.

    Tips/Advice Wanted - Modifying my 1980’s 700 in 22-250

I am putting about $3,000 into an 1986 Rem 700 ADL. Rebarreled it in 280 AI Match, had a brake put on it, fluted the 26" barrel, had the absolute works done on the bolt by LRI (m-16 extractor, dual ejecters, bolt face bushed for proper hole diameter, tac bolt knob, McMillan M40 stock, cerakote...

    Gunsmithing Mauser Precision Work

I have 4 very high quality pre-war VZ-24 Mauser actions that I would like to start builds with. These will be Coyote/Varmint applications and an Africa gun. Does anyone know a Smith that does precision Mauser work? Seems like all the old guys are retiring. leaving the youngsters doing Rem 7oo...

    Rifle Scopes Mountain Rifle Scope

I have had a precision rifle built by Chad Dixon at LRI. Rem 700 action, 6.5 CM , 22 inch barrel, McMillan carbon fiber stock, all the goodies. My go to scope is usually a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10 50MM, but I am looking for a lighter 40mm-44mm scope with side focus and uncapped elevation (I can...

Hunting & Fishing 6 vs 6.5 for whitetail?

I have been a 300 Weatherby man most of my life, but as I get older recoil just sucks. I killed the biggest deer of my life last year with a .243 Rem 700 in a Magpul Hunter stock. 24" barrel and 95 grain Hornady SST bullet. Deer staggered 35 yards and dropped like a rock. Devastating wound...
