    'Budget' 308 carbine build suggestions

Look at the new Geissele Two-Stage triggers. They're more "budged-minded" variants of the SSA and SSA-E. Rock River 2-Stage triggers are not very durable. This picture is interwebz, but I've seen a similar one in real life.

    AR 10 build help

I'm about to start a Mega MKM build myself. I settled on DPMS pattern due to the greater availability of parts. JP sells .260 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrels with options high pressure (small firing pin) bolts. I am doing two uppers for my build: one with 16" .308 from another company for...

    Best quality AR 15 LPK

I buy G&R or JP LPKs without the triggery assembly. Save a few bucks on something I'm not going to use. Put the savings towards a Geissele trigger. FWIW, don't buy Colt LPKs. They're no better than a DD or similar LPK, but Colt demands an insane premium for the priviledge.

    Black Rain Ordnance AR's

Rock River is not exactly high end. If you want a high quality lower, get a Seekins, Noveske Gen3, BCM, etc. If you want billet, I would look at Seekins, JP, Mega or Rainier Arms. Black Rain is decent enough, but as said above, they're overpriced flashy rifles.

    M1a jae stock or EBR

You might also want to look at either a Troy chassis or the McMillan collapsible chassis.

    M1a jae stock or EBR

I had a JAE stock for my M1A, and the thing was rock solid and probably one of the best aftermarket stocks I've ever shot. The problem is that the JAE stock is a precision stock, and not something that would be used in a conventional DMR role. The stock is rigid/non-collapsing, long, bulky and...

    Springfield M1A into a precision rifle...possible?

For what you want to do, your money is better spent on either a factory .308 AR, or your own AR build. The SOCOM models have a different gas system than a standard M1A, so you would basically be buying a receiver and bolt, and throwing literally everything else into a box. You can buy a Fulton...

    Surefire Mags?

Yeah, the weight on it is atrocious. The mag itself unloaded is pretty hefty, but add the ammo and it gets downright brick-like. The weight balance/distribution is off too. The rifle feels far more off-balance than one with two mags coupled, or with a Redi-Mag attached. It hangs down lower...

    Kinesio Tape Use, and Problems?

Kinesio tape takes the load of weight or pressure from a specific area and distributes it across a wider area through the skin and facia. The problem is that if you have a persistent injury that will not heal on its own, all you're doing is delaying the symptoms. Taking the stress off may...

    RRA Match vs Geissle S2G

Rock River two-stage triggers do this (I've seen it):

    Rifle Scopes Which aim point?

The CompM4/M4S is a solid scope, and it's built like a friggin' tank. It weighs about the same too. I have an M4S and I love it. It's a great optic, but it's an expensive scope. When I look at the cost of the PRO, I'm not convinced that the M4/M4S is worth the added expense for what we are...

    New .308 needed

You can build or buy a different upper for the rifle. The rifle is DPMS LR308 compatible since, you know, it is a DPMS LR308. Also might want to consider going to an optic that is better suited for long range. You can start with the SWFA SS line of fixed, or look at their 3-15x42.

    Surefire Mags?

My agency did a T&E on one that we still have in circulation. It stays loaded year-round, and we've had it for two years. It gets very little use. The premise behind it was to have a primary patrol magazine with more rounds since most patrol officers never grab their Go-Bags when they pull...

Building an AR, does choice of receivers matter much?

If you buy both from the same brand and from the same company, you can have them ensure that both mate up correctly with no play. That being said, upper and lower receivers from quality companies tend to have very little to no play anyways. One of the big reasons why you should buy from a...

    Whats the best arm ex.

At 47, you have to consider that you're on the "downslope" of mucle development. Consider that you have difficulties like slower recovery and decreasing testosterone level. I mention this because it's important to be realistic about what you can do with your body, and what to expect in the...

Rifle Scopes Looking for new glass for department issued rifles.

NightForce has LE pricing and the NXS 3.5-15x50 is going to be just a hair over you budget. My recommendation would be to try and appropriate a couple extra bucks. Contact NF for a T&E model to try out. Put it up against other scopes if you can get other T&E models from other companies. We...

Is the Geiselle SSA-E a versatile trigger?

If the majority of your shooting is deliberate precision shooting, the Enhanced (lighter) models are going to suit you quite well. I've heard excellent reviews of the DMR trigger as well. If you plan on doing more dynamic "tactical" type training and shooting, I tend to believe that the...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce v US Optics

I set up and assisted with a T&E of a NF NXS 3.5-15x50 for our SWAT snipers. Not an F1, but a standard NXS. To start, all interaction we had with NF was excellent. There were zero CS issues. They were enthusiastic to work with us, and they were the first ones to bring up a one month T&E, not...
