    Shoulder bump inconsistent infrequently

yes, if you’re doing ELR competition, I would want a consistent bump. My guess is it’s the turret flex. Good luck and let us know what you find.

    Shoulder bump inconsistent infrequently

It may be worth it. I guess it depends on your goals. If you’re loading for hunting or just banging steel with friends then, as Rio Precision said above, a .003 variation in bump is still with SAAMI spec and will not hurt anything. Just make sure it’s not getting to the point where you may...

    Shoulder bump inconsistent infrequently

The Bullet Central Micron die you have is an excellent precision die and matching that with annealed Lapua brass from the same lot is all very good. Since you have solid contact and camover with the shellholder and die, it may be that the movement you are seeing in the turret head is causing...

    Shoulder bump inconsistent infrequently

Need more info. Are you getting solid contact between shellholder and bottom of die? Is there camover? With a case in the shellholder and ram all the way up, can you see a space between shellholder and bottom of die? does your press have a lot of play in it? Can you see any movement in...

I'll Post This Here - Hornady's Podcast #50. I thought it was one of their best, but some reloaders might not like what they see....

No. The Hornady podcast was wrong on many levels. It was a display of individuals not familiar with correct statistical inference. A random variable (or random experiment) is a test in the sample space and maps the outcome to a number on the real line. So a single result of one experiment...

    Zeroing on indoor range

No disadvantage! For load development, I used to shoot 100 yards at the Elite range (indoor) in Prince William co Virginia. Very nice! The only disadvantage I could see is the knucklehead next to you with a 338 and muzzle break.

Guns I laughed at but now regret not buying

44 Automag. Produced 1971-72. saw one new in a large sporting goods store in that time frame. I was 19 at the time and no cash. The gun had many operational issues including the need to cut down 308 or ‘06 brass—it didn’t used standard 44 mag cases.

    Visited Dead Zero Shooting Park

I’m a member. Really great range and very good staff and support. But the wind is very tricky and seldom consistent there. It’s not uncommon to see the mid-range flags pointing in opposite directions There’s a little dip or valley at about the 300-400 yard line. The YouTube video below of...

Kowa TSN 884 or Minox MD 80ZR Spotting scope

I read your similar post on the other forum and Turbulant Turtle mentioned the new Kowa 35X extra wide angle eyepiece (TE-80XW) for the 883. I wish I had not read that. Now I may have to get one for my 883. I think they go for around $700. Anyone here have one for wind reading?

Kowa TSN 884 or Minox MD 80ZR Spotting scope

I don’t think it is sharper at the same power. Kowa lenses are superb. The 25LER does have more eye relief like its name indicates. I’ll have to get the 25x-60x out of the closet and compare. As I mentioned, I haven’t used it much. I shoot F-Class and the 25x stays on the scope for wind...

Kowa TSN 884 or Minox MD 80ZR Spotting scope

I have the 25x LER I use for reading mirage. I find that’s best. Too much more power and it lessens ability to read. Also have the 25x-60x wide lens but seldom use it.

Kowa TSN 884 or Minox MD 80ZR Spotting scope

You can’t go wrong with Kowa. I have a TSN-883 I use for wind reading. I’m not familiar with the minox. what will you be using this scope for?

    Another Ky newbie

Welcome. I live in kentucky. Unfortunately, Ky has nothing for LR. Tennessee and Indiana offer good ranges for learning and competition. Enter competitions and learn. Most shooters are eager to help others learn. CIHPRS in Indiana just started offering a class for those new to LR comps. See...

    Weather accuracy

As said above, atmospherics will not cause this shift in POI. However, if the ammo was left in the sun on a hot day, that would cause a jump in velocity.

    Mystery black stuff in barrel

I guess it depends on your perspective. The 6mm rem is a beefed up 243 win. It can push a 55gr bullet over 4000 fps at the muzzle.

    Mystery black stuff in barrel

you have a hunting rifle and your results for first few shots seem ok for that purpose. The fact that it opens up after that is more about poor bedding and internal barrel stress. the fire cracking is normal for an aged barrel, especially a barrel burner like the 6mm rem.

Rifle Recommendation New To Long Distance Shooting

I would suggest you do some thinking on the primary purpose of this rifle build. Is it for PRS comps? The rifle you see in the video is built primarily for PRS. Most PRS shooters would be happy with a half-MOA rifle—you are primarily trying to hit a 1-3 MOA steel plate at various distances. For...

COAL Varies When Seating Bullets. Problem???

Spot on. Also, when sizing your brass, if there is a variation in base-to-datum line, this will show up as variance in bullet jump since the shoulder of the case (datum line) is what stops the forward movement of the case in the chamber. So BTO measurements are what you should use as long as...
