    338 LM Sizing Die Problem

Hi, I've found with the .338 LM it's very important to lube the outside of the neck. The "old days" of dabbing the neck In a bit of graphite isn't good enough. I haven't had one get stuck, but I've gone close. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

Define accurate. Altitude is based on the WGS 84 geoid (the model of the earth that GPS uses). The world isn't a sphere, but more like a prolate spheroid. That's a whole other discussion - just what *is* altitude? Against what? There are better places to hold this discussion. Sent from...

    F T/R Competition Dividing F T/R into 2 divisions? Opinions?

Funny, But I, and I'm sure many other shooters getting on in age find the eyes to be the piece of the body that deteriorate the first. Certainly my biggest issue with the Swiss assault rifle is sight picture (iron sights at 300 meters). I think allowing scopes favors the better shooter and...

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

Yeah. Extra step. That's what Lowlight has been saying. In fact , I believe the real variable to ballistic equations is air density. This varies based on pressure and temp (and to a small amount on humidity). If we could invent a device that measured it directly, it's all we need. Every other...

Need input on the new Leica Geovid hd bino/rangefinder

Update on the Leica: Although their manual says "the clicks are to be specified - in 5 or 10 centimeter graduations" it probably means millimeters according to this website: Leica Camera AG - Sport Optics - Geovid They could probably add 1/8 MOA and 2cm to the existing click values.

Need input on the new Leica Geovid hd bino/rangefinder

Hi, Yes, I've noticed that as well. Well, not so much budget as what the price should be for the market. Their pricing seems a bit away from reality. Most mobile phones have a digital compass and inclinometer in them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Need input on the new Leica Geovid hd bino/rangefinder

Hi, Lots of overkill. I don't need 6Km. Don't want 1.7 KG. I want a 2000 meter solid performer with inclinometer. Basically 50 range. Should be doable in decent optics, binocular format, 8-10x. Objective up to 42-46. For less than $2500. Nobody seems to do it. Leica Geovid HD seem to...

Ideal caliber for 200-300 yard paper punching?

Hi, Yep 100-200 is 6PPC. 300 might be a more interesting discussion, maybe 6BR or a variant. But for real accuracy (ie benchrest), less than 300, PPC would be the first choice. .223 isn't serious. No real benchrest shooter uses it. Lotsa good info at www.6mmbr.com Sent from my iPad...

    Zeiss Comparison

Well, I WOULD have bought it, but it's double plus ITAR. There is an identical one, non ITAR, which is $500 more ;-)

Hi, Found answer to my own question in another thread... http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-observation-devices/169842-leupold-mark-4-spotting-scope-mil-dot-reticle.html?highlight=67180 Bought one myself just now.

Need input on the new Leica Geovid hd bino/rangefinder

Hi, Of course, the cliff at 5 degrees would show more than 1200 but it would show 1200 equivalent distance for a level shot. But you know what I mean. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Hmmm, That spotter looks a steal - I don't see it on the Leupold site, I only see this one (which a friend bought): [url=http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-observation-devices/169842-leupold-mark-4-spotting-scope-mil-dot-reticle.html?highlight=67180[/url] I wonder if it's a...

Need input on the new Leica Geovid hd bino/rangefinder

Hi, I've just read through all the materials and instructions from Leica for the Leica GEOVID HD-B and I must say I'm not impressed. Not a serious tool for long-distance shooting - could have been ideal (I'm looking for a 2000 yd rangefinder in a binocular format with inclination) and these...

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

A bit more... Yes, re-read what Pinecone was doing and I don't get how he gets 0.1 mils difference, as he was doing 80F/80% as well. I suspect he didn't use "Standard conditions at altitude" like Papa 30 was (mistakenly) doing - let me explain... There are four options: 1. Standard...

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

Ok, A bit of bad data going around this thread... First Papa 30: the runs you did have one fatal flaw in the input data - this is a rerun I did here on your corrected version: This is a run of your UNCORRECTED data: Now, you have set the software to CHANGE THE ZERO TO THE PBR. Therefore...

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

From Kestrel user manual... Barometric Pressure and Altitude Adjustment The Kestrel Meter measures “station” pressure—the actual air pressure in the measurement location— and uses this value to calculate barometric pressure and altitude. Station pressure changes in response to two...

How to spot a FAKE Atlas Bi-pod

Some people here cannot read, Nobody said his licensed business partner was making fakes. They are making a licensed derivative product clearly identified as such. They have as much to lose as Kasey does. Some other scumbag is doing it. Don't confuse the two. Similarly, there is world of...

    Need some help reloading .308

Yeah, die not set up correctly. Press will only deliver max leverage at top of stroke. So, screw the die all the way out and put on bench. Lower handle on press until ram is at top of travel. Screw in die until it impacts the ram. Lower ram and then give die one more half turn into press...
