    I wouldn't bother going that route, buying a M24 to rebarrel it. Plenty of options to choose from. OAL for a standard long action is about 3.6, remember that box on the M24 is modified to feed the 308

    Thanks for the reply, the one on the right has the sharp edges the other they are rounded. The counterbore holes are smaller for the older base. Which I presume are the bases contracted for the program until they dried up. Thanks for the explaination on the rings. I know leupold changed the cut...
