    A little help with bore-scope interpretation ...

I think that it best. You can play with a tube of Lasso as it won't hurt your toasted barrel at this point. You may learn something. Lasso does have it's place and is used successfully mostly by benchrest shooters who require a super clean barrel and know more about shooting in their pinky...

    A little help with bore-scope interpretation ...

Lasso is a lapping paste. Or a paste with an abrasive grit. Think toothpaste. Anyway it can help clean out and polish (lap) the bore. And that might help for a little while but at 1200-1400 rounds your barrel has reached its life expectancy. I stay away from lasso as it is really best used...

    A little help with bore-scope interpretation ...

Yes. That is why some guys will set the barrel back and rechamber but it is usually not worth the expense. Time to rebarrel

    Coating Bullets

I'm not an experimenter. With the cost of components and barrels these days (plus cost of chambering) I stick to proven and agreed upon industry products and standards. If a sponsored pro shooter wants to experiment on a sponsors dime or a big company wants to coat bullets and test them then...

    Anybody know what this is?

I had a limbsaver recoil pad get eaten up in my safe. It seemed to breakdown from the carpet and maybe a build up of fumes (oil and solvent) in the safe. I think KnowNothing may be right about this.

What Short Action Elk Caliber for Youth Rifle

I agree with 7mm-08 but if you don't think it is enough of a jump up then 308. If you aren't anticipating long shots then 338 federal my be just the ticket. Great to 250 yds or so which is well above where most Elk are shot.

What are you using after Shooters Choice Mc-7 Bore Cleaner?

Some guys use a little Kroil for long term storage. Kroil is great anti seize oil that should be in every household shooters or not. I think that this is the product that Gil P. may be referring to that benchrest shooters often use. But Terry is right that if you shoot your gun every few months...

    Barrel Flutes

Definately not worth the $150 to me. I agree with Shilen. I will just go lighter contour if I need too, and if you are spending $150 to have it fluted you are better off spending $150 more and just going Proof carbon.

PRS rifle - best choice ?

That's what is weird to me about this conversation. I thought MPA bought out Spencer barrels and where making their own. Why are they using others. What happened?

    First rebarrel, dumb question...

You can specify length when rebarreling. Expect about 30 fps velocity loss per inch cut. Will not matter on accuracy.

PRS rifle - best choice ?

I would shy away from the X-caliber barrel. I'm sure that you are right that it meets MPAs 1/2 moa guarantee but I like to stick to the really premium benchrest quality barrels. Bartlein, Hart, Krieger, Brux, Benchmark, Proof. I would choose Walther over X caliber. I just don't think the barrel...

Need advice 4 first precision rifle

You say it will be primarily for bench shooting and you would like to have the option of competing if you want. Exactly what type of competing are you talking about? You say you are looking at 7 SAUM in a 30 inch barrel on an MDT chassis? That is no PRS rig. Not a benchrest rig either. Nor...
