North Texas Precision Rifle Club -- August club match

I'm coming! I spectated last month. I'm loading my match ammo right now. I just have a 10 round and 5 round magazine; no problems there, right? I was going to ask how many rounds were in the course of fire, but I found the answer just now when I registered. I have all day tomorrow to establish...

North Texas Precision Rifle Club -- August club match

I'm coming. I spectated last month. I'm loading my match ammo right now. @rrflyer Is it going to be a 100 round course of fire like last month? Also, I just have a 10 round and 5 round magazine; no problems there, right? I have all day tomorrow to establish dope (first time ever), so hopefully...

What gear should I buy to DIY mount a scope?

The math is all sound, but I don't like to have built-in error. I would rather have error that can be corrected by training. That lesson kind of leaves one with the impression (probably unintentionally) that if you mount your scope canted to what's comfortable, you no longer have the potential...

What gear should I buy to DIY mount a scope?

Many people have said to mount the scope where it is level when the rifle is in a comfortable position (i.e. not level). This is a bad practice. When you mount a scope, the verticle travel and verticle post of the reticle should be on the same plane as your barrel. If it were possible to dial...

    The Jesus Christ’s of LRF's - EuroOptic's Vectronix Sale

For the money, I'd rather get a 6.5CM Tikka, a Vortex Razor, an extra match barrel, and 15,662 rounds of Hornady Match A-max

Shooters World Powder: Long Rifle for 6.5 Creedmoor

    I fired those 14 rounds from 200 yards yesterday, and here is a picture of the results. The numbers represent the order of firing, starting from the lightest charge. Here are the corresponding charge weights: 1: 36.0 2: 36.3 3: 36.6 4: 36.9 5: 37.2 6: 37.5 7: 37.8 8: 38.1 9: 38.4 10: 38.7 11...

Shooters World Powder: Long Rifle for 6.5 Creedmoor

"I looked at the picture and realized it is more than 20 rounds. Oh well. I'll be starting to chronograph from here on out, so once I settle on a load, that should give a good indication of the powder's consistency. It should be noted that, while all my brass, powder, and bullets will all be...

Shooters World Powder: Long Rifle for 6.5 Creedmoor

This started out as a private conversation, but I decided to turn it into a thread. "All I've done so far is load and shoot 50 rounds. They were loaded 10% below max charge. This was to get some once-fired brass so I could start load development (they say not to use new brass for load...

How can I tell if I hit a steel target 800-1000yds away?

Symantecs and science are both at play here. If you mean that you watched a piece of paper go from having no hole to having a hole, then it is totally possible. But if you mean you observed the process of the bullet pushing the paper out of its way, then science calls bull.

North Texas -- DFW Area --- Club Match this Saturday 7/21

I'm coming to spectate. I would have tried competing, but I was unable to get my ammo loaded up in time to get dope. Hopefully I'll get to learn some things anyway. Question: My wife is wanting to come too, and we have 5 small kids. If they all have hearing protection and stay well away from...

How can I tell if I hit a steel target 800-1000yds away?

The reason you can see trace is its size. Your brain sees some part of the trace, frame after frame, so it does not disregard it. Have you ever thought you saw a mouse run by, but weren't sure? Imagine if a line of 500 mice ran by at the same speed. You would have no difficulty knowing that...
