Preferred barrel blanks (the company)
Because they turn down the diameter of a heavy barrel in the middle section and leave both ends. Then wrap with carbon fiber back to those diameters. Replacing the metal with carbon fiber. This makes it lighter for the same dimensions or contour.- Danny1788

Gunsmithing Anyone pre-bore with the floating reamer holder?
I did not have a mill at the time i made the shoes or i would have cut them in a V shape. They are .750" Radius and hold the barrel shank with 8 contact points evenly. They dont work for small sporter barrels muzzles. I have a 6 jaw set tru that i mainly use now.- Danny1788

All steel ball bearing gimbling feet. This has worked well for me for years now. Never had a barrel slip and the setup is rock solid. Got this method from Alex wheeler.- Danny1788

Look into piloted Core drills, I drill with one in a JGS floating holder the pilot helps follow the bore and then I make a light pass with the boring bar to make sure it cut 100% true. Also once that material is removed I always recheck the throat with my long stem DTI Piloted Core Drills -...- Danny1788

If money and time are not a problem, then I see no reason not to pick it up as a side hobby. I would never do it for a living though. Its not hard to chamber a barrel. There is a lot of BS on YOUTUBE and everyone thinks they are a professional gunsmith on that place. Since you already have...- Danny1788

I think it depends on how you setup your barrel to chamber. If you dial in the muzzle and the throat and then prebore to the throat then it shouldn’t matter one bit, if you only dial in the chamber end and 2.75” in with your dti then time the muzzle and run the chamber Reamer strait in...
