    I'd start with a quality rifle with an accuracy guarantee.....like the Premier series Bergara rifles. You just never know what you are going to get with a factory rifle with no accuracy guarantee. Bergara is interchangeable with Remington parts so most smith's will be able to work on your rifle...

    Great info....Frank, regarding the Athlon Cronus, what are your thoughts/impressions about it? Made by LOW in Japan, same place as the Razor Gen II. The ones you sampled track well....turrets may be mushy, not locking, but I really like my two. Great choice for high end scope on a budget IMO.

    You should definitely give feeler gauges a try......quick and easy. They are cheap.....the serious tightwads use a deck of playing cards :) Works too.

    I don't have the measurements but it looked to be the same as the Vortex AMG I compared it to side by side. The Athlon reticle is significantly thinner than the Bushnell Elite G3 in the LRTSi 4.5-18x that I had.

    Andy, I agree......Feeler gauges are the back up plan if the Arisaka clearance is an issue. Still way more accurate and time saving than plumb lines/bubble levels.
