    Any electricians out there?

Take the wires and land them under the screws and not sticking in the back. I’ve seen lost of bad connections with those and a couple fires caused by them. IEEE should be shot for letting those things make code

    Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

We would put yard sprinklers on MPT cooling fins to lower the temp. Cooler core temp means longer life span of the unit. Just think it rains, snows and ice forms on the bushings and they don’t arc. That xformer is not in service. Look at the grounding leads hooked to the top of the high side...

    Maggie’s Situational Ethics Question

For the people that would confront and stop what was going on let me make a few points. Your going to engage multiple people that are showing no restraint, probably have lots of fire power and willing to use it in broad daylight with a handgun. The victim will probably after the fact sue you...

    Whole House Fan

Brings back memories of waking up in the morning in a wet bed. If your in a high humidity area you will have everything in your house wet with dew if you run it after the temperature drops below the dew point. An attic fan is all we had for cooling when I was a kid. Kind of weird , us...

    Texas grid-here we go again.

I mean for better or worse for good or bad all utilities keeps EVERYTHING going. We didn’t get ourselves in this corner overnight and we’re not getting out overnight either. Change needs to happen slowly to make sure we don’t end up in a worse situation. Right now the train is going pretty fast...

    Texas grid-here we go again.

Be careful with planning long term and trying to make a buck off the utility company. If you can do it others will also and when that happens your public service commission will step in and not allow the utilities to be harmed. What’s more important a few people trying to make a buck or billion...

    Texas grid-here we go again.

Most of the rules from nerc for the electric industry are written by industry. Nerc says that want to regulate X and a drafting team composed of individuals from the industry draft the regs and nerc approves them. Who would you like to draft these rules , industry or a bureaucrat. I remember...

    Texas grid-here we go again.

One situation that exacerbates the ability of generation to handle frequency excursions caused by sudden loss of generation is system inertia. Each generator is tested for inertia and it’s capability to respond to sudden changes in frequency. That information is used by companies and system...

    Texas grid-here we go again.

Shouldn’t have the loss of generation from plants tripping due to freezing, that was a kind of perfect storm situation. A summer perfect storm would be little or no wind and solar not producing because of clouds, high loads and unexpected loss of some large base load units. This may cause...
