    Catastrophic Failure

I'm not sure which is more amazing, that a builder let a rifle like that out of his shop without test firing it and noticing the obvious...or how many people in this thread are incapable of seeing the logic in Harvey's explanation of testing priorities because they can't get past the "ZOMG IT...

sub-sonic .308 load for Bushmaster 308 Hunter with TB 30-P1 suppressor

What twist rate is your barrel? And are you running an actual stamped SBR, or just pinned and welded?

    Merry Christmas from Accuracy International

Wow. That's a hell of a deal! I noticed your demo rifle prices are also ridiculously good (if they're even still in stock - at those prices they're probably already gone!).

308 Twist Rate and Accuracy International Barrel mfg.

My 1-in-12 AI shoots 175gr SMKs and 178gr AMAX sub 1/2 MOA, so I wouldn't worry about it. On the other hand, if you're planning on shooting subsonics or doing anything weird with heavier bullets, the 1-in-10 makes far more sense. I can't get any commercial subsonic load to stabilize out of the...

Rifle Scopes Official NF 2014 Press Release, New Product Announcement

The SHV will sell like hotcakes at retail, for entry-level shooters who know the name and can't get over the psychological hurdle of spending $1500+ on a scope.

Has anyone seen a spare AI bolt before?

What would you do with one? Who has ever worn an AI bolt out...? Or broken one?

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Saw a form 4 come in last week that was dated and mailed 3/6/13...yet another form dated 3/7/13 still hasn't gone to approved status yet.

Anyone with Teludyne barrel sleeve experience?

There's no reason why it would have any influence whatsoever on muzzle velocity, since it's just an addition onto and over the existing barrel...not a replacement in and of itself (although they do come with the little thread-on optional muzzle brake, which I concede has some finite theoretical...

    338 LM Sizing Die Problem

Equipment: Lee single-stage press, RCBS full length sizing die and seating die, Lee QD die bushing, and Lapua once-fired brass. I've had this press for a few years now, primarily for loading 308, and have no experience with problems like this. Up until now I've been neck sizing 308, and...

Rifle Scopes I hate Leupold's customer service

I've used them a few times. FedEx broke a riflescope that was shipped to me, and Leupold had it fixed and returned in about 10 days, gratis. About two weeks on the last scope sent in that had lost its nitrogen fill and was fogging up in heavy rain. Their CS seems to be pretty damn good, I'd say.

Rifle Scopes Bushnell HDMR Adjustment Range

Anyone else have any information here? 50 MOA of travel seems ridiculous for a 34mm scope tube, and an optic of that quality. Is this just a typo, or is there really only 50 minutes of travel in them?

    Gunsite Plane Crash 4 Dead

As a gravitationally challenged non-pilot, I'd have to say that clipping a radio tower 50 feet off the ground is probably going to make it pretty irrelevant whether you have one, two, or twenty-seven engines on the aircraft: you're just simply screwed.

    Accuracy International dovetail mount

Somebody's got to ask the obvious question here... Why? If the normal AI solution works fine, and mounts well, and works for you, why waste time and money and headache buying a new mount and a new base just to rejigger everything back to exactly where you were before (save a lighter wallet)...

    Hydrographic Disaster PICS

It looks like it was painted on, except for the lettering near the sling point. What the hell did they do?

    Point of Impact Shift Mystery

Possibly a dumb question depending on your cleaning regimen, but how long since you'd last done a thorough cleaning of the barrel? Wondering if copper build-up could have built to the point of influencing the POI...

    Sako TRG - Lefty Friendly

Can't say that I have any real issues with it. The controls are all ambidextrous (except the bolt release, not that it matters). The stock is ambidextrous as well, so no issues there. I run the bolt with my left hand over the action when firing unsupported, and use my right hand when firing...

    AI buttspike vs DTA monopod

Out of all of the buttspike systems out there, the Sako might have a very slight edge in my book. None of them seem to give me the complete steadiness that I want though to get *exactly* on target. Rear sand bags still win, IMO.

    shooting 308 175gr. smk's

I'm willing to put money on the scope being bad. That, or you're massively over-compensating/under-compensating for wind values. The load doesn't sound unusual, and you'd be hard pressed to bugger up the loaded ammunition badly enough to be missing a 14" plate at 400 yards.

AI AE Modification - Loosing Weight

If you handle a stripped AICS, you'll realize that it really doesn't weight very much to begin with. Compare a TRG barrel and an AE/AW barrel, and the difference is visible. To get a truly lightweight AI build, milling out the chassis sections would save a few ounces, but you're going to want...
