    Sig SSG 3000 Patrol 18"

It's hard to tell from looking at it. The action doesn't explicitly say "Made In USA" - it just says SIG Exeter NH. The barrel is marked Made In Germany, but that's not necessarily an import mark for an actual firearm - it could be referring only to the barrel. I can say that the receivers...

    Swat snipers-average distance to target

That statement begs the question...did only 1% of engagements involve the use of NV because the other 99% did not require it, or did only a fraction of SWAT snipers possess and have the training to employ NV on a call-out? For that statistic to be of any relevance, what we really need to ask is...

    Swat snipers-average distance to target

"Competition" can refer to F-Class or NRA Hi-Power...but it can also refer to the PRS or Sniperweek. Those who make the mistake of imagining it to refer to the former category and disdain it on that basis are badly underestimating what comps can entail. There are plenty of LE snipers still out...

Anyone have any range report with the new economy SSG3000?

    Sig Sauer SSG 3000 Patrol?

Just handled one of these new economy SSG3000s...it looks like it could show serious promise. Roughly the same place in the market as the T3 Tactical, with a street price of about $1400. The stock and magazines need to be ditched though - someone needs to make an aftermarket replacement...

    Sako TRG 42

And did the rifle stop shooting after those 5 shots? Did it suddenly start throwing shots an inch or two to the side? Or did you just flip out because it's "full of copper!" and decide that it can't possibly shoot well with that much copper in the bore?

Macabre ELR target on sale at Costco

The major problem is that you're going to have a hard time seeing a hit; the bullet is going to pass right through and probably cause very little movement to the target body.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Dan Wesson Specialist vs Springfield TRP Operator

My money would be on the Specialist. The whole thing is fairly academic right now, though, because you're going to have a hell of a time finding one for sale anywhere. To the best of my knowledge, Dan Wesson still hasn't recovered from their fire last year, and so there aren't any new DW 1911s...

Another Melonite Question....Please read though. **Link provided

I've got an ION Bond DLC'd 1911, and it's the single most impressive finish I've found yet. From a pure aesthetics standpoint, DLC kinda sucks: it's not particularly glossy, and it picks up dirt and crud easily. Unlike a polished blued steel, carbon fouling and crud doesn't just wipe away with...

Slide fire VS True Full Auto: One more controllable than the other?

Your words speak for themselves, as do mine. I have no doubt that the majority of the people on this forum are intelligent enough to tell the difference. Experience and rationality tend to be of greater utility than emotion and scorn.

Slide fire VS True Full Auto: One more controllable than the other?

Please point out for me where I ever said that a SFS is going to be as accurate as a selective-fire rifle. Hint: I didn't. Your position that the SlideFire is terrible because it gets used poorly by those who shouldn't possess it is the exact same argument used by gun control groups as to why...

Slide fire VS True Full Auto: One more controllable than the other?

I've shot quite a few machineguns over the years, probably 30-50 different platforms in various calibers, ranging from AM-180s to M2HBs. I had the chance to shoot the original Akins Accelerator before it was shut down by ATF, and I've shot probably half a dozen SlideFire equipped ARs and AKs...

    .308 Afghanistan

I've sold guns to deployed troops before from time to time, and it's not really that much trouble. Either have the receiving FFL hold onto the weapon until you return, or see about having someone with power of attorney pick up the weapon for you.

    Suppressors Subsonic 338LM handloads, anyone?

You've got me. Corbon has a 338LM subsonic load: What's the point? I guess the ability to deliver a heavier payload, and thus marginally better ballistics in the 300-500 yard envelope for subsonics. If you want quiet, and don't need distance, why not?

Suppressors No ATF forms, no shooting?

On our range we do require owners of NFA items to produce the associated forms when requested if they wish to shoot. That being said, we don't typically ask regulars to provide forms for things that are obviously legal. We have refused individuals who claimed to be law enforcement but couldn't...

AI AX338 VS DTA SRS 338 or MRAD

All three are good rifles, as are the Sako TRGs. I've shot all of them here and there, and ultimately find the feel of the TRG to be most natural for me, but it depends on the person. AIs are built like tanks: simple and effective. The DTA is an interesting platform, but lacks slightly here...
