270 bull barrel & sustained fire?

Alright, so I have a Savage 270 with a sporter barrel, and that thing gets real hot, real quick. Anyway, I'm starting to formulate my plan to rebuild it as a "tactical" rifle. IE: bull barrel, tactical stock, and general accurizing. I'm wanting to stick to a 270 because it is my only centerfire...
