Another Picture Thread - All Other Semi-Autos

Zero QC issues so far. First trip to the range soon, so I'll whine loudly if there are any issues.

Another Picture Thread - All Other Semi-Autos

Picked up a DSA 50.63 clone (one of 60 being furnished with aluminum lower) for my own use. Actually weighs just 8.6 LB, as advertised. A borescope examination of the chrome lined barrel revealed a bright & smooth chamber with a very tidy throat, plus clean rifling to the muzzle and a well done...

    Which "gucci" ar to get?

Here's a Proof SS 18" .223 Wylde barrel inside a STT-15 receiver set with Geissele 15" MK16 forend. Young MFG full mass bolt carrier group, Geissele SCH, TriggerTech Adaptive trigger, Vltor MK II recoil system. It's kinda Gucci:

Accuracy issue due to burr at gas port?

Noveske's 416R SS composition is super hard. With a new Noveske SS barrel, little chunks breaking off at the forward edge of the gas block are not at all uncommon. When that happens, accuracy falls off. It will smooth out with another 100 rounds and the barrel will shoot fine.

    Best 12.5 barrel?

You said "best", right? A Craddock Precision Bartlein.

    The AR15 Picture Thread

I haven't fired my own much like this with identical brake enough to see any wear. But, your point is quite valid. Titanium will erode much more readily than steel. I've even seen SS brakes shot out. That guy shot so much his retina detached, though. When we go super lightweight - in anything -...

    The AR15 Picture Thread

This is one of my favorite designs, both to build and to shoot. The heart of the weapon is its Noveske double chrome lined, hammer forged "Skinny" profile 14.5" barrel with mid-length gas system. A V Seven titanium Furion muzzle brake is pinned and welded to provide a 16+" length barrel. The...

OSS 7.62 or Omega 300 on 8" 300 blk build?

Flow-through designs like the OSS/HUXWRX are not your best choice for the .300 BLK subsonic loads. According to the people much smarter than me over at Pew Science, subsonic ammo requires mucho back pressure to be seriously quiet. The Surefire SOCOM300 SPS is the quietest can I've tried with...

How do we feel about the Magpul PRS Lite?

How do we feel about the Magpul PRS Lite?

I just finished a custom .308 for a customer who specified the PRS Lite. I was pretty underwhelmed. The cheek riser is too far back (in order to clear the charging handle) on the stock to do any good. A number of carbine type stocks provide a better cheek weld, more adjustment in LOP, weigh...

    The AR15 Picture Thread

That's a tough question to answer with any genuine scientific basis. I can only address this from three decades of empirical observation. This ability to observe accurately is heavily clouded by what I like or have had extraordinary good luck with in past practical application. Example: I...

    Accurate lightweight 16" barrel recommendations?

USUALLY RIDING AROUND IN YOUR ATV?!? You're doing this all wrong. Accuracy through volume.

    Accurate lightweight 16" barrel recommendations?

If you don't mind going the 14.5" route with a pin and weld, the Noveske 14.5" "Skinny" hammer forged, chrome lined barrel weighs just 20.5 ounces without a gas block. With a decent optic and match grade ammo, they will shoot considerably sub-MOA in a sub-five pound rifle. Here's an example...

    Accurate lightweight 16" barrel recommendations?

It's pretty hard to beat Proof Research carbon fiber barrels in the "light but accurate" department. Their 16" with intermediate length gas system is extremely accurate.

    Mk12 mod 0 in 6mm ARC

Problems: The standard PRI MK 12 Mod 0 forend will be too short for the +1" gas system. The PRI flip up front sight won't work with the short Proof gas block journal. There's no shoulder on the Proof barrel for the Ops-Inc barrel collar. I don't know if you can get an Ops-Inc style muzzle device...

    308 AR10 Build Info/Picture Thread

The Seekins SP10 Builder's Kit is in my opinion the best foundation available for a precision big block gas gun. SOCOM apparently feels the same way, as the SP10 Builder's Kit is precisely what the SOCOM MRGG (aka "Mid-Range Gas Gun") is built around. The two big reasons are the barrel is...

    Precision AR15 Grip Angle

Hand size shape, and dexterity are all over the place. A lot depends on what works for you. And that can depend a lot on what you've grown accustomed to using. I built a number of AR's for military contractors a couple of decades ago. To my surprise, quite a few of them opted for the old A2...
