The locking function of rings is typically where their inconsistencies come from. The grub screw pushing on threads, the split in the rings - those fight against the ring being true to the threads (and therefore, in theory, the chamber of the die). What we found out is it's got a lot to do with the actual lot of A2. All studs grow a lot when we heat treat, which is why we machine to an oversize, then heat treat, and finally turn to the exact size we want. Set your decapper up just like a sizing die. Ram to the top, screw in the die until contact, lower the ram, thread in the die another 1/8-1/4 turn, tighten the lock ring. A few other guys have had the same issue, this has solved it for each of them.- flyer1a
