    12.5" Pistol/SBR caliber choices

^^ Thanks for your thoughts, that's my next Plan. I used the Rem 115 as I had a lot of it to step it out to 500 meters. I have LR data on Hornady 120 SST and HSM 115 SMK; all three are within a few fps @ 2300. Found my WC test target which is ~ 1 MOA and noticed they used 110 gr HPBT, so I am...

    12.5" Pistol/SBR caliber choices

I cobbled together this Wilson Combat 6.8 SPC II. Maximum range so far is 500M, where it is transonic. Don't reload.

    Suppressors DIY Suppressor alignment gauges

I use the Geissele alignment rods for non-.22LR barrels. I also have used McMaster Carr's tight-tolerance rod stock. As mentioned above, the 0.2120" diameter works well for the common .22 rimfire. Geissele instructions for their SAR rods suggests using "minute of eyeball" confirmation that the...

    Barrel recomendation for 8" 300BLK

I cobbled together this Primary Weapons System (piston) Mk109 .300 BO a few years ago. Used a variety of sight systems, finding the need for real scope e.g. S&B 1.1-4X short dot, to increase precision @ 100 meters, the 1-2 MOA dot just can't provide. Running Gorilla 147 FMJ @ 1821 fps. These...

    Barrel recomendation for 8" 300BLK

This is my 9.5" KAC SR-30 @ 50 meters. Don't reload. Usually Gorilla or Black Hills supersonic, Sig subsonic. I don't believe there is any inherent over all advantage to a shorter barrel, particularly if it is configured on a folder receiver. Not super-accurate, but his is the best I could...

    Fanny Pack/Bum Bag/Lumbar Pack

1000ccc is right at 3 cans of coke volume.......suggestion of battle belt, with QD pouch options, seems the best so far, without any shoulder straps keep in OP desired parameters. Use sturdy MOLLE / riggers belt.

Gunsmithing 1911 Commander Bushing or no

This Belgium 9 mm Hi-Power still retains its magazine dis-connector mechanism is often complained about cause of a ratchity trigger feel unless all the parts are smoothed over. Many have just removed the mechanism. The wooden grips are handsome but way to slippery for my hands.

Gunsmithing 1911 Commander Bushing or no

The 1911 Commander size is the 4.25" barrel. I really like the heavy "cone barrel" WC employs in both their full / commander size. I have their Compact Carry in 9mm, 4" with the bull barrel. Both are bushing-less, and do add a nominal front end weight, neither which will not correct poor...

Is body armor necessary for a civilian?

I would like someone to invent the analog of a automobile airbag body armor suit...although its deployment could not be triggered by the sound of the shot, as that would be too late. If you hear the shot, they missed.

Offset rds mount and optic combo

Over the past 10 years its been a journey......alsmost every variant of Manfrotto with Picatinny adapters, Swarovski center column carbon fibers got lighter, now just the RRS 34 mm tubes with Anvil-30 which is pretty stout for my uses. KAC SR-30 SBR.

Offset rds mount and optic combo

I only have set up a few rifles with secondary RDS optics, prefer strong side offset (HK 556, LaRue OBR, SR-25). The 6-48 ACOG with RMR on top is a mother lode. Surefire's Barry Dueck has nice offset RTS (rapid transition sights) that I have on this Wilson Combat 6.8SPC2 SBR; No battery worries.

    Teaching kids long range

Late thought. For most youngsters spool up their skill set on rim fires out to 100 yds. Avoiding center-fire ammunition recoil to almost eliminate one variable (flinch, percussion) while focusing on the remaining fundamentals of the art.

    Teaching kids long range

I like to use a mocked up target with reticle markings at the firing position to discuss POI v. where they were holding the sight picture when they broke the shot. Dry fire practicing 5-10X at the target prior to live fire to watch for trigger jerks etc. Start in close 25 yards then advance to...

    Tripods and accuracy

I ended up applying tape with measurements to top segment. Not perfect but it gets close fast. Maybe RRS will step up with label tape decal measurements to apply to the legs, retro-actively.
