    Gunsmithing Torque Tools

Fix-It's are pretty handy but not in the range or configured for muzzle devices and castle nuts ; for the later I use the old school Craftsman click style.

    HK MR556

My HK MR556A1 was purchased in 2015. No $$ regrets; the gun was inexpensive in the day, the optics and mount$ hurt. It has been a great gun, pretty accurate out to 600 meters.

    LOP AR15 comparo: Entry, A1, A2

Some back story related to the single hole in the rear surface of the AR 15 / 16 MA1-A2's receiver extension. The original AR15/ M16 (with rubber butt pad) used a single screw (with no drain hole in the fastener) to secure the pad and fiberglass (Colt) buttstock into the single hole in the rear...

Me too. Except there is no round chambered on the HK compact, it limits movement better than outside the trigger guard with the Crimson Trace accessory.

ISO AR Pistol Backpack OAL 23 in

First thing I would do, is configure your rig with a folding stock, then, you are back in the Universe of normal sized backpacks. Of all the soft packs I have only the Camelback Condor model ( 2-day pack) is long enough to accommodate a 23" Mk8 scoped rifle with a LawTactical folding stock...

Like most extractors, the Grab-It's mentioned above (post #24) you can see they have a left hand drill bit on one end and a left hand twist on the other. Use with cordless drill put in reverse mode for the 2-step operation, drill then extract.

Stripped rail screws how to unscrew?

I like the Laser Micro impact driver as it seems more proportionate for gunsmith sized screws and can fit in tighter spaces.

Gunsmithing Thread chaser for muzzle threads

You need to use a split die that can be applied beyond the faulty threads... I have a number of these for gunsmith use. An example of what you need, just get the muzzle thread size.

Stripped rail screws how to unscrew?

For gunsmith size fasteners I have found the Grab-It brand the best. Just one example. Finally, replace hex head fasteners with torx!
