    Current Surgeon vs AI Action

Lololol, I've never heard that one before but now I won't be able to get it out of my head. OP - Agree that Impact is the better choice compared to the Surgeon, it's essentially the modern evolution. I got a newer manufacturing Surgeon action 3-4 years ago, it was nice and well made, and it...

Which bipod for PRS and NRL Hunter

I don't have a ton of rounds through it, but thus far it hasn't fallen off. I shot a NRL Hunter match last weekend with a lightweight 6.5 creed and it held fine across 19 stages in one day. There's probably some movement under recoil but nothing that's caused an issue.

Which bipod for PRS and NRL Hunter

Double pull lightweight. I run one for NRL hunter and also carry the same bipod in my PRS pack. My default PRS bipod is the Atlas CAL but I could easily run the double pull without complaints. Side note - I did drill and pin the double pull to remove any panning rotation.

    Leofoto tripod for NRL

I could take or leave the tac table for shooting off of. I usually will just throw a bag on the top of the leveling head if I'm going to shoot from the tripod. The tac table is nice for glassing though, I throw a bag on top of the table (with bag oriented vertically) and binos on top of the bag...

    Leofoto tripod for NRL

Leofoto SO-362CX, two section inverted, sturdy, fast to deploy, nice and tall. I use a RRS TA-3 leveling head in mine, but there are lots of options for different heads. Tac table = DIY. Thick piece of 8x10 polycarbonate, drill two holes and mount an Arca rail section on the bottom. Cover the...

Swarovski 15x56 as PRS Spotting Scope

100% you can use the Swaro 15x56 as a spotting scope for the whole PRS match. They are the gold standard and you don't need a second set of binos to find targets, it's very easy with the Swaro's alone. I wouldn't worry about a rangefinder, you can totally get by without one. Put the Swaros on a...

Rifle Competition Events What would you change or do differently with current competitions/organizations?

@PRS-JohnB Keep shooting regional matches, try to meet as many guys as you can and make friends, and also make mental notes of where they finish. Pay attention to your % of winner score. That's your running benchmark that you're trying to improve. If you shoot in the 70%'s, you're getting...

    Pistol ar....lvpo vs red dot

I've got a similar pair, shorty pistol and a full size with LVPO. I run a Holosun 510c green dot with a riser on the shorty. Nice big window and it's not really a "distance" gun so no need for a magnifier.

Is this normal for a custom action?

It probably was clean with a very light coat of grease that had been wiped off. Not really a super intentional process. Just sort of cycling the gun and noticing a sticky spot then getting angry there was a sticky spot and going all ham fisted on the action trying to abuse the life out of it...

Is this normal for a custom action?

Somewhat common on new actions that haven't worn in yet. I usually end up messing with it cycling the bolt a million times to smooth it out. Find the angle and pressure where it feels like the bolt wants to bind and run it back and forth through that section a bunch to wear down any sharp...

    Pressure question

You're not getting the chamber clean/dry enough. The residue in the chamber is making the chamber walls slippery so the brass isn't gripping the chamber adequately, creating bolt thrust and hard bolt lift. It goes away after a few rounds because the chamber finally gets cleaned by running a few...

    6mmDasher feeding from 308 magazine?

Yes, you can re-use those mags. All you need is a spacer kit like the ones from Primal Rights. Generally speaking a 308 mag with a spacer kit will be very reliable feeding Dasher, they have been trouble free for me across multiple different mags and multiple different actions. Only downside to...

Barrels and lead times - worth it?

I've gotten barrels from many different smiths. I have not seen any correlation between the amount of the lead time and the quality of their work. Admittedly all these shops were top tier gunsmiths so I wouldn't expect anything less in terms of quality. I think whats most important is a smith...

Becoming competent left handed with a right handed bolt action

Correct, no adjustments to the rifle. It's set up pretty neutral so it works fine with either hand. The choice of when I shoot left handed is usually dictated by the match director at a competition. They will either require it in the course of fire, or they will set up a shooting position...

Becoming competent left handed with a right handed bolt action

I'm a righty but practice a lot shooting left hand/weak side since we encounter it from time to time in competition. Dry fire is 100% the answer. For positional/barricade shooting I shoot pretty much exact mirror image of how I shoot right handed. Free hand on top of the scope, both eyes open...

Rifle Scopes Found deal on Night Force ATACR, have questions

For PRS competition you definitely do NOT want a second focal plane MOA scope. That's the reason the price is so low. For MOA vs MIL, you'll find that almost everyone in PRS is using Mils and discussing wind/dope in Mils. Not a deal breaker, but certainly an annoyance if you shoot a lot of...

    Shooting off a suspended sling?

We had the exact same stage at our match last weekend. Several modified prone shooting positions inside the helicopter first, then the suspended sling and two targets to finish the stage. My approach was to use tripod rear with my gamechanger bag as a front rest on the sling. The extra weight...

If you're in the market for a Yeti cooler and don't mind the color burgundy...

I think they might. Last spring I bought the Outfitter 55 quart with the added basket for $230 with free shipping/no tax, direct from Canyon.

If you're in the market for a Yeti cooler and don't mind the color burgundy...

I landed on Canyon coolers, have both a 35 and a 55. I camp for pretty much all my rifle matches and they do great keeping things cold even on 100+ degree weekends. I also like that they are very space efficient, square shape and no funky exterior handles to take up room when you're packing...
