    Inconsistent shoulder bump

I've found that different lots (same brand) can cause significant differences in bump. I proved this to myself a few days ago when I sized a box full of same brand brass of mixed lots for a friend. Some bumped back perfectly and some were .003 different. Upon closer inspection, I could see...

    Cold Welded Bullets in Neck

I've found no difference in SD/ES (after wet tumbling for a little over an hour) between Graphite lubed necks and no lube. In one instance, my Graphite lubed SD/ES was up slightly. So, I recently stopped with the Graphite. I normally load long and final seat the night before shooting. I...

I borescoped an unused cut rifled barrel: help me learn about what I'm looking at.

The days of just "shoot it" or your gunsmith's Hawkeye reassurance of "it's fine, shoot it" are gone. Are barrel makers gonna have to keep up with "acceptable" borescope standards?

Rifle Scopes NF ATACR- 7-35 vs 5-25- Hunting

You'll be happy with your decision. The Mil-XT reticle has become my favorite. Spuhr mount will look right at home on the AI!

Why Do The Tightest Groups Always Have The Worst SD/ES?

Don't know if this applies to the situation but, a few years back, I nearly tossed a barrel that ended up being a spectacular shooter. The reason was, I was shooting back to back groups with different powders. By luck, while testing seating depth, I had 3 groups of varying seat depths (one...

Rifle Scopes NF ATACR- 7-35 vs 5-25- Hunting

I've got both. I haven't done a side by side comparison but I've used both in really dark conditions in the woods and never felt hindered by either. After that I'd need NV. Tunneling is a non issue AFAIC.

6 creed crazy velocity spikes!?! WTF

Or, if it only takes 4.7 mils for 1000 yards, your MS is correct. 😉

I hold for wind so the windage cap is ON once I've sighted in. Moving with the gun and no w cap could cause some frustration on the line. JMHO

    AI vs. DT

I've got two SRS A1's and an AXSA and feel both are great platforms. I lean a little more to the DT side after a few years using both. The AI is certainly more refined in bolt smoothness and ergonomics. I had a couple of issues with the AI mags with the bolt skipping over rounds - no, not...

    6.5 Creedmoor or 6GT

I've seen more 6mm dies/bullets/brass available lately. I saw 500 6GT brass for $399 advertised a couple of weeks ago. Could have been bait but I considered ordering it and building my next rifle around it if it actually showed up. Still got the primer thing to contend with, though. Can't...

    Carbon ring removal

KG1 on a mop or a patch wrapped around a brush and let soak for about an hour. Then, oversized brush pushed into the neck and twist it about 30 turns. A chamber cleaning rod works well. A friend of mine uses a piece of cleaning rod chucked in a drill and turned slowly for about 10 seconds...

    Barrel Flaw or other?

A friend of mine had an old .223 varmint gun/barrel that shot exceptionally well - .1's pretty regularly. At an estimated 3000 rounds it started to open up to .6-.7's. He cleaned it well and accuracy returned for about 150-200 rounds. Having great confidence in that barrel, he had it set back...

I wonder if there will now be a nice "blowout" sale on the AXSA's reminiscent of the AXMC's when the SR was announced?

    Seekins SP10

Seekins SP10 is a fantastic rifle. I've got a JP LRP 07 and a Seekins SP10 and I'd say it's a toss up as far as quality and accuracy. The JP is certainly a bit more smooth and refined. But, for about half the price, the Seekins is, as I said, a fantastic rifle. I'm about to order another...
